I've been on the lookout for a price drop on this for a white. A great little fryer.

To cook tandoori chicken at its best a higher heat is needed throughout cooking which then simulates an original tandoori oven. This oven cannot do this without opening the outside door to let the smoke out of your house

These are good for some things and not so for other foods like marinated chicken - bought mine to cook this in but took it back as it was too smoky setting off the smoke alarm all the time - I tried many different cooking oils ( some have higher burning points than others) in the marinade but it looked like the kitchen was on fire after 15 mins cooking

The answer to this is; cook at low heat at the initial stage and increase heat afterwards.

Will only work with chips that come in a packet - as for home made chips - forget it .....

I've cooked homemade chips in the airfryer. You need to soak the potatoes for a while first and coat them in oil but the end result is fine.

I usually cut a sweet potato into wedges, toss the wedges in some olive oil, then toss them with some paprika and herbs then air fry. Lovely :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry I meant my own chips.
Although I do find boiling them for a short time gets rid of the starch, and then rolling in a little oil gives a softer but crunchier chip.
I do not recommend for burgers/food that dip oil as the oil blows off the item and hits the element and gets very smokey.

You should add a bit of oil as that keeps food from drying out.
It does smaller portions quicker.
I use it for
quickly heating up doritos
Homemade potatoe and sweet potatoe chips (I do coat them in a little oil).
Oven hash browns. Come out quicker and crispier than a normal oven.
Cheese on toast. only big enough to do one slice at a time though.

You don't need oil if you are using store bought frozen chips as they were already pre-cooked in oil.You only need oil when using fresh home cut potatoes. I do my chips on 160 and end result is always fluffy .
It is quite loud but I doubt it would be loud enough to bother anyone through a closed door.

To be honest this is a reason we did not have a kitchen living room conversion
Half the time you cant hear the tv over the kettle/ dishwasher/ washing machine / tumble dryer/ food mixer etc.
The answer is if the door is shut you most probably wont hear it or it will be very low.
I would say it was quieter than most hair dryers as the noise is enclosed more in the unit.

No, not at all! I've just never noticed any bad smells coming from the airfryer. Not like with a chip pan anyway.

I clean mine every time too and we only use it for chips, never tried anything else in it.
I'm really funny about cooking smells so other people probably don't notice these things but I do.
I hope you're not inferring I don't clean mine

It doesn't leave a greasy smell in the kitchen like a chip pan does. You can smell things cooking from the airfryer but it's no different from cooking anything else in an oven. It's a much cleaner way of frying.

It's good for all of those things - no oil needed. Chips come out crispy and fluffy in the middle.
