(Mods, please delete if already posted - I did a Nespresso search and couldn't find anything)
This won't suit everyone. However, I was about to purchase some more Nespresso pods from their website when I saw this offer.
It quotes a Nespresso machine for £1, based on a 12 month subscription.
There are 3 monthly subscription levels:
£18 - Inissia machine
£25 - Inissia & Milk
£45 - Lattissima Touch.
The monthly payment transfers into a Nespresso credit that can be used to purchase capsules, and anything else from the Nespresso store. The credits last for 2 years beyond the end of the subscription period.
My wife loves Nespresso, so I end up buying new pods every couple of months anyway. This seems like a good way of getting a 2nd machine if you have one already, or a way of budgeting for your first one, which might be useful with Christmas approaching. If there is a catch I can't see one.
I'm not going to get into the pro's and con's of Nespresso pods and value. They suit my family for convenience and taste.
For those who might be wondering which subscription to go for...
2 coffees each day works out at approx £18 per month.
3 coffees each day works out at just over £25 per month.
5 coffees each day works out at approx £45 per month.
(Note, you can cancel before the end of the 12 months, but there is a cancellation charge - £70 for the Inissia, £110 for the Inissia & Milk, and £225 for the Lattissima Touch. The machine remains yours after cancellation.)
so looking at the link it looks like you have to already have a nespresso machine to join.

I wondered that myself, but I logged out of my account to double check, and the offer was still there.
From the Nespresso FAQ:
What is this offer all about? What is the intent here?
It is a new way of onboarding and welcoming you to the world of Nespresso, with an offer for a machine of your choice at very low price. This offer comes with a 12-month contract: each month you will pay a fee. Your monthly fee becomes credit of the same amount that you can use to buy whatever Nespresso product you want and build your own coffee experience: You can use it to buy Nespresso coffees, delicious treats, cups or other accessories. You can use your credit whenever you want – it is cumulative (you don’t need to spend it all every month!) – Actually, you can use it even 2 years after the expiration of your 12 month contract.

10 Nov 161#5
This seems like a great deal - if I didn't already have a machine, I'd be snapping it up! The fact you can carry your credit over for up to 2 years after the 12-month contract is up means you're basically getting the machine for free even if you only drink one cup a day. The 50 capsules free delivery is also a great deal. The Inissia on its own at £18 is the better deal than the £25 to get the milk frother too, as that is working out at £80+ more for the year when the frother only costs £50 on its own.

Just noticed...
1.14 This offer is limited to new customers only.
That's a pain! I ordered an Inissia on the £18 plan, as a spare, because I think my current machine is on its last legs. But I'm already a customer. My order is being processed at the mo. I wish they had just declined it at point of order :disappointed:
Update: I've just had a shipping confirmation email, which includes the machine. Looks like I'll be getting it

Interesting offer, my concern is I like quite a large mug of coffee, say 300ml inc. milk. I read the the 'lungo' are about 110ml. Can they be topped up with milk or more hot water and not taste too weak? (I know :-) )
Also with the subscription, can I choose a selection of pods?. My partner likes decaffeinated coffee or the occasional hot chocolate
paulj48 to Daveaka
10 Nov 161#14
You can top it up with hot water but it'll taste weaker, whether that's too weak is personal opinion, also they don't do hot chocolate as its a espresso machine.
johnnyboyuk to Daveaka
10 Nov 161#15
If you like larger coffees the Tassimo is probably a good option, aswell as offering a hot chocolate pod.

ChrisUK
10 Nov 16#19
I normally add around 1-2" of milk to a mug, microwave for 1 min (or use a frother), then I can top up with the Large setting & Small setting on my Nespresso machine for a "full" mug.
If wanting stronger (3/4 mug), just use the Large setting.
For a strong coffee (1/2 mug), use the Small setting.
Even at a full mug it tastes good, the coffee standard itself is way above the likes of Tassimo etc.
paulj48
10 Nov 16#20
you can use the £25 how ether you see fit, you don't have to spend it all at once each month and don't have to just spend it on pods.
paulj48
10 Nov 16#22
so are you saying your running extra water through an already used pod? I've tried that and the extra coffee that comes out will be bitter tasting.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 16#23
The shock will come when you realise just how few Nespresso coffees you get for £45 and weep that you've got a massive subscription to keep up, plus you need to run out to Sainsburys to pick up more pods
vitor19771
10 Nov 16#25
Expired why??
ChrisUK
10 Nov 16#26
It still picks up the coffee flavour but its not as strong. The taste doesn't differ (imo), but its obviously not as strong.
paulj48
10 Nov 16#27
you mustn't have great taste buds then, Nespresso pods have just the correct amount of coffee for the water running through them, ground coffee will give a bitter taste once the optimum amount of water has passed through. I sometimes will brew the strongest Lungo then with no pod in run the small water, this then makes an Americano.
wattsy66
10 Nov 16#28

10 Nov 161#32
Very interesting offer. Thanks for this. I've been wanting to try these Nespresso machines for awhile. So essentially this means I get the machine for £1 and just have to pay for the pods, is that correct? I'm a bit confused about some of the comments here. If 2 coffees a day = £18pm that equates to 30p per coffee. If 3 coffees a day = £25 that equates to 28p per coffee. Basically you're not losing out if you get the more expensive machine because you get more coffee and the credit lasts for 2 years, right?
finnil to Redfist
10 Nov 16#36
The price of the pod is variable, depending on the flavour chosen. Usually works out between 28p and 38p per pod. Most are about 30p.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 161#35
As a comparison, I get through 1Kg of whole beans per 3 months, and that costs me roughly £15. so £5 per month.
The bean to cup machine cost me just under £200. I get 5 and a half years of coffee for £540.
£45 per month is £540 per year. If you're going to spend that, you might as well buy your coffee from Costa and save a bit of space in the kitchen.
badasschris to johnthehuman
10 Nov 16#38
hmmm now you have me thinking. Do you think this machine will make as good coffee as the most expensive nespresso machine? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001EOMZ5E/?tag=ho01f-21
I assume you have to clean quite often but I do like the freedom and no plastic waste
badasschris
10 Nov 16#37
cool so call that a maximum of 4 years from the day I order (last order for a years supply at the end of the 3rd year) means the total cost for 4 years is about £12 a month which is probably about what I spend at the moment. hmmmm decisions. One thing I don't like about dolce gusto is the horrible waste, anyone used the recycling service for this company? how does it work?
Chiptivo
10 Nov 16#39
dolce gusto is just powdered instant.
Nespresso send you bags that are free to drop at a shop or a collect plus, they have a nice page that shows what happens to them, grounds are recycled and then the aluminium is recycled.
finnil
10 Nov 16#40
I'd argue it makes better coffee, but it obviously depends on the quality of the bean.
I tried to migrate my wife to one of these from Nespresso, to try and save some money on coffee, but it had to go back - it has quite a large footprint.
For info, the coffee made from the cheapest or dearest Nespresso machine is identical. You just pay extra for the levels of automation or design.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 161#41
That's the one I've got. It doesn't require too much cleaning, the drip tray at the bottom would need cleaning a lot, since the machine likes to purge itself before and after each coffee, but most people I know use their own drip tray and empty that of water each use (simply throwing water into the sink ). Every 5 or 6 shots you need to empty the little coffee 'pucks' into the recycling, and every few weeks it'll need a wipe down inside, nothing too strenuous.
Only difference will be that you need to 'froth' your own milk. Coupling that with fact you've got more control over your beans and therefore access to a much wider range of coffees, I'm not sure why you would choose a Nespresso over a bean-to-cup.
sham63
10 Nov 16#42
I'm already registered and it just worked for me - thanks for posting!
Went for the 'biggie' at £45 pm
Redfist
10 Nov 16#43
Except that it says your credit lasts for 2 years after your subscription ends. Essentially that's £540 credit for 3 years which is £180 per year for 5 coffees per day.
How many coffees do you get per day for 1kg whole beans per 3 month?
johnnyboyuk
10 Nov 16#44
For the £45 option you probably wouldn't drink those all in one year and the credit can be used essentially over a 3 year period.
plewis00
10 Nov 16#45
That's assuming your mechanical machine doesn't break down, you can be bothered to clean it and you don't want anything other than normal coffees - a lot of assumptions there. But this deal will be good for some, even if it's not good for you. Going to a coffee shop each day is all well and good but that's more time spent queuing and not in the comfort of your own home.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 16#46
That doesn't work. Your 5 coffees per day costs £45. and you only get 12 months of £45 credit.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 16#47
Is the Nespresso made of magic? It's a mechanical machine afaik.
What's a "normal" coffee? I can make espresso, macciatos, flat white, long black, americano, latte, frappuccino, cappuccino, cortado, and at a push, some imagination and fiddling of some knobs, ristretto.
sham63
10 Nov 162#48
The main point is that for most existing Nespresso users this is a no-brainer.
I spend £58 for 200 capsules every 6 weeks, so i'll get a £270 machine for nothing.
I can use it or flog it on Ebay.
plewis00
10 Nov 16#49
Your bean-to-cup machine has a much more difficult workload with grinding beans up (and I've seen a number of my friends' ones break or need servicing, which is inevitably about the time they just stop using them) than a Nespresso which is basically just a high-pressure pump. The Nespresso is more convenient for the vast majority of people who don't have time to faff around, so my point was, you're assuming that because your machine suits you, it should suit everyone. This, you just pop a pod into it, it simplifies the process and requires less cleaning, so any more marginal perceived cost is wiped out with time and ease savings - horses for courses.
paulj48
10 Nov 16#50
totally agree, I had a bean to cup machine and got rid of it for a Nespresso due to convenience and consistency. I used to always struggle frothing the milk, then the beans I'd bough that tasted great for a few days where then going off and not as fresh as they could be, I suppose I could have split a big bag up and froze some but again that's more faff. Nespresso pods are always fresh and taste reasonably good.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 16#51
Indeed, I'm not saying you shouldn't buy a Nespresso, they're obviously fantastic little machines for some people, just in my experience I prefer the 'faff' to be able spend less and have more control over the coffee.
Redfist
10 Nov 16#52
I'm not sure you quite understand. You pay £45 credit per month but you can use this up at any point from 2 years after the 12 month subscription ends. You can even order capsules with this credit towards the end of the third year making it last even longer. If you spread the credit over 3 years it equates to 1.6 coffees per day which is £15pm and you get a free Nespresso machine, if I understand correctly.
If you're on 5 cups a day, Nespresso will cost you £45 a month regardless of which option you take up.
If you're on less, you could save the credit and spread over a longer term, but make note that you will have to pay £45 a month up front in your first year, to "buy" these credits. Also make sure you make yourself aware of the terms, and cancel any ongoing contract.
The free machine makes Nespresso more competitive against buy your own machine and buy your own coffee, but still more expensive for the advantage of simplicity and convenience, so really its a personal call.
finnil
10 Nov 16#57
That's the suspect site that was declining card payments, and suggesting bank transfers.
Regardless of whether you are a new or existing customer, as long as you are confident that you will use that amount of coffee pods over 3 or 4 years, then you are effectively getting the machine for £1.
The debate about quality of coffee or cost of each coffee isn't really relevant to the deal.

Scanning through the comments above, I don't think I saw anyone mentioning the Senseo coffe pod system from Phillips? I got my espresso machine from Tesco for under £30 and buy the Senseo pods in bulk from Amazon (France). I like a good strong cup, and the Dark "Corsé" pods work out about 11p to 13p each, depending on exchange rate. I buy a year's supply at a time (10 x 36 pod bags) and just have 1 a day at a cost of about £45 a year - not a month. If you don't want to buy pods in bulk, then they still work out at only around 15p to 20p each if buying from Tesco etc. so still very much more economical than Nespresso, Tassimo and similar systems.

paulj48
10 Nov 16#62
Those aren't espresso machine's that use a pump to force the water through the grind, Senseo is more like a glorified coffee filter machine, not the same at all. It even says in the FAQ on the Senseo site that the coffee wont taste like an espresso but will taste like a filter coffee. https://www.senseo.co.uk/faq/

10 Nov 16#63
Yeah, that's my bad. I meant 5 coffees per day for 1 year at £540 which you can spread over 3 years but you're only getting 1.6 cups per day. It's rather confusing but if you drink 1-2 cups per day you will spend £540 on coffee pods over 3 years.
johnthehuman
10 Nov 16#64
That was my point though, at 1-2 cups per day for me, £540 would last me almost 6 years. And I'm not locked into buying Nespresso pods.

Thanks, mine out for delivery today.
My account is 5 years old, had issues with them for weeks to be honest.
My 5 year old machine now leaks, so the Manchester Store initially told me I could have one when I went in.
Decided to think about it and went home. Called at 10pm one night (24hr customer service), got through to an Ireland call centre who knew nothing about Subscriptions, when I gave her the web url, she laughed and said, "It would have been told about this before the customers".
Call back next day in better hours and was told new customers only, even though my machine is broken and 5 years old.
Then called again after an email inquiry said I could have one but they had an IT issue which meant they could not order one on my account. 2 weeks later they are still trying to fix that when I saw this thread and they can now be ordered online.
The only issue I have at the moment is that it is trying to apply a delivery charge when using my credit which is wrong.

This is at the very bottom of the terms and conditions.
Looks like I'll be getting it
Heat btw
Also with the subscription, can I choose a selection of pods?. My partner likes decaffeinated coffee or the occasional hot chocolate
but ive never tried one, how would you compare to tassimo latte or costa etc?
thanks op for sharing deal
If wanting stronger (3/4 mug), just use the Large setting.
For a strong coffee (1/2 mug), use the Small setting.
Even at a full mug it tastes good, the coffee standard itself is way above the likes of Tassimo etc.

The bean to cup machine cost me just under £200. I get 5 and a half years of coffee for £540.
£45 per month is £540 per year. If you're going to spend that, you might as well buy your coffee from Costa and save a bit of space in the kitchen.

I assume you have to clean quite often but I do like the freedom and no plastic waste
Nespresso send you bags that are free to drop at a shop or a collect plus, they have a nice page that shows what happens to them, grounds are recycled and then the aluminium is recycled.
I tried to migrate my wife to one of these from Nespresso, to try and save some money on coffee, but it had to go back - it has quite a large footprint.
For info, the coffee made from the cheapest or dearest Nespresso machine is identical. You just pay extra for the levels of automation or design.
Only difference will be that you need to 'froth' your own milk. Coupling that with fact you've got more control over your beans and therefore access to a much wider range of coffees, I'm not sure why you would choose a Nespresso over a bean-to-cup.
Went for the 'biggie' at £45 pm
How many coffees do you get per day for 1kg whole beans per 3 month?
What's a "normal" coffee? I can make espresso, macciatos, flat white, long black, americano, latte, frappuccino, cappuccino, cortado, and at a push, some imagination and fiddling of some knobs, ristretto.
I spend £58 for 200 capsules every 6 weeks, so i'll get a £270 machine for nothing.
I can use it or flog it on Ebay.
Regardless of whether you are a new or existing customer, as long as you are confident that you will use that amount of coffee pods over 3 or 4 years, then you are effectively getting the machine for £1.
The debate about quality of coffee or cost of each coffee isn't really relevant to the deal.
^ that's what you said, clearly showing you don't really understand
I like the idea of real milk as apposed to the UHT tripe in the tassimos
Either way, this is a deal, IF you really like Nespresso
they are either hard-core or really needed the lungo for a taller coffee
Anyone know when the offer started?
I've just received my shipping confirmation.
£45 for that model
Have just checked against my £18 credit by putting 50 capsules into my basket and proceeding to checkout but it still wants to charge me delivery.
Am i doing something wrong?
Have some heat, fantastic deal.
Do these deals come with the £75 credit.
doubt it comes with the £75 credit as well, certainly no mention of it so would assume not and is a bonus if it does but assume it's unlikely!
I have a Nespresso already and i got the £75 credit which was and is also a great deal.
is the credit showing up in your account already for you to make an order (am desperately low on coffee, so holding off until approved before I order)
just checked account and the £45 shows as credit in the subscription area.
I got the £47 starter lungo bundle that included the free cups.
Hopefully it lets me order the other bundle next month with the free espresso cups
where did you find this offer please? as I cannot find it..or does it appear once your order has been processed?
Thanks :innocent:
Assume its a one time only thing? It was my first order was kinda starter pack thingy
Its not there anymore now ive ordered it. =(

Anyone know if u can get £75 with this too
I also had a problem with delivery being charged on my order, just give it a couple of days and the system seems to catch up with you being on a subscription then the delivery charge drops off.
:sunglasses: one happy boy.
Excellent deal!
Good deal as it stands now, but with the credit on top , wowser!! oO8)
I don't know if it's been mentioned but my concern was that if after the 12 months if I forget to cancel I'll be in a 'rolling contract' but nope, I read the T&Cs and the contact expires after the 12 months and the payments cease to be taken. Brilliant.
Great deal OP.
If only I liked coffee
This is even hotter if you get £75.
Thanks.
From website.............(Subscription cannot be used in conjunction with any other Nespresso promotion, offer or discount. Please see our terms and conditions.)
A Nespresso Promotional Club Reward has already been applied against this machine's serial number.
So no £75 worth of coffee, just a machine for £1. I can live with that.
Can't be upset with getting a brand new machine for £1 Can we?.
I've just ordered mine on the £18 plan. We already have a Lattissima Touch machine, and usually order 200 capsules every 3-4 months. On the subscription I'll be ordering 50 capsules per month without paying anything extra, and have a spare / machine for the office
The £75 credit promotion has also been applied to my account
I filled in the online form, and did a screenshot of the order confirmation email.
It took less than a week from application to acceptance.
Nice one.
Thanks OP.
