Thanks for the reply. I shall just be patient until the updates complete. Are you guys out there updating to Windows 1607 without any problem? I'm concerned that that's what bricked my first one. There's a very good Linx forum and people have reported similar with the Linx 1010.

Anybody else having problems with their Linx? I'm now on number 4. First wouldn't even switch on after a couple of days. The second developed a fault where it wouldn't work with USB 3 devices (seems it couldn't give enough power). Third had horrendous light bleed and a dead pixel. Just booted the fourth. Some light bleed, but not as bad as number 3. Wireless seems really slow and it has dropped the connection once. Hopefully it's slow due to background updates and will be better soon. I've read of others having wireless problems. Does anybody have a fix for that, or is it a hardware issue? Fortunately Sainsbury's customer service has been excellent.

I happened to be in Portswood, Southampton branch where these scanned at £279. I asked them to check the Shirley store, but they claimed they did not have a department to sell these (despite 2 showing on the system). Portswood claimed it was likely those 2 were put out as special promotion. Seems a nonsense that stores can't sell at the same promotional price!

First one I had, the tab key wouldn't work, the rear camera had lines running across it and it would gradually discharge when in use even if the charger was connected. After looking through the BIOS I selected 'revert to factory default', saved and exited. The machine would then no longer switch on. Tried the reset button, tried holding the power switch etc, but absolutely nothing. Got it exchanged without any problem (it was going back anyway because of the other faults). The new one is much better. Camera is fine (not brilliant quality), charges up ok, all keys work and it generally feels a much more responsive machine. It's now fully up to date and I'm very happy with it. Just looking for a nice travel case for it now.

I don't think this is part of black Friday deals anymore just been reduced. They didn't even know they had these I dont think, there is loads of promotion on the linx 1010 for £99 (which is a good deal for a good tablet itself). This was dropped on the shelf without any price on it. So if you want one of these you will probably need to get the customer service to check stock with the sku - 130615476

I have left mine on a Quick Charge charger, I did not time it as went out to work, but I did see it was charging noticeably quicker, and also when I turned it on just now it's actually fully charged, and showing 100% when previously but would show 99.

So just had a play with one in Sainsbury's - sound is very poor - seemed to me like about 60% volume not much else happens as you continue to turn up. Also vey tinny and thin sound - would drive me bonkers to listen to this. I didn't think the screen looked very bright either at full brightness. Would I pay £329 - probably not - if I was in the market for a windows multi-use device I would consider at £200 but then reject it for the sound but that's my personal likes/dislikes.

Yep, it does help. Still not great but better and just about loud enough to listen to music to in a small room.
Battery does seem to take an age to charge to the earlier query, but then I have been charging whilst playing about with it, and using a 2.1 amp micro USB (not the charger that came with it), so can't say for sure how the battery is.
I found the USB port a bit 'stiff' but seems okay now after a few uses.
I am fifty fifty about the machine so far, it could be really great for the money so I am persevering with it for now, and getting it all updated, etc.
It seems really smooth in itself, navigating between windows, etc, the screen is pretty nice to me, and the keyboard / cover and stand are very good.

Thank you. I went to my local Sainsbuys, East Prescot Road, Liverpool. They didn't have any on display and the store assistant didn't think they sold the 12" version. Using the SKU he found it on the system and it showed they had one in stock so after a bit of searching in the stock room he bought one out. Strangely he said the price had gone up to £329, but I asked him to scan it and it went through for £200. He said it looks like the price may be going up tomorrow? I think. I am not at all techie but hope that helps
(I am surprised that a full reset did not recover it)
Rang Sainsburys Portswood, just to confirm price and they have eight in stock.
Shame about the usb3.
Also 720p V 1080p
Will try again on a PC later, and see if that one improves it none?, or ..... :-)
Thanx for that useful info.
Thanx for the Deal too OP. :-)
Edit actually WiFi seems slow, but I have left mine charging up now so will double check settings etc later.
Felt cheap and the battery life was terrible.
Thinking about it at the moment
A Microsoft employee makes the point about the comparison in his blog:
"As you can probably tell I’m impressed with this device. You do need to bear in mind the price of course – don’t expect this to be a low-cost version of a Surface."

Amazon lists a cut down version of this, the Linx 12V32 (with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage down from 4GB RAM and 64GB storage) for £319:

This has a small number (5) of mixed reviews.
Unfortunately the display model was not turned on and battery was flat, so I couldn't comment if the screen was any good.
4GB DDR3 and 1920x1200 screen resolution.
battery life is stated as 7 hours on the box.
I got just over 5 hours of normal WiFi use.
200GB sandisk microSD card also works perfectly.
