I bought an LG Leon recently which has similar specs and it certain't ain't 'rubbish'. It's under powered but quite usable.

My parents still have their brick nokias and I've been trying to get them onto a touch-screen for some time as their children and family are mostly abroad and they miss out on things like whatsapp etc.

I have an unlocked Lenovo dual sim phone and the people here asking about unlock codes I wonder if you have thought about whether you will need 2 seperate codes.
Remote unlocking is done through your imei code but on dual sim phones you will have 2 imei numbers (one for each sim slot)

Anyone having this mobile please could you go to Settings > Regulatory & Safety > CU Reference and let us know what it says. This will be the PID asked by unlocking services to check if this mobile can be unlocked with remote code or only by cable.

You need to go to storage in the settings and iirc you have to click on either device storage or sd card (I think it's device) and there is an option to migrate all data over to the sd card.
After it's completed it will run smoothly and everything will be intergrated into one large space.
If you don't do the above apps don't work properly for instance I noticed the iPlayer app was on the sd card but downloaded programs went to the phones internal memory but after migrating all data everything worked as one smooth large space.

Marshmallow allows external storage of SD card but only on the provision that SD card is locked to that phone and this is VERY much down to the manufacturer if they want this option activated or not so 2 devices running Marshmallow might not be the same.

The issue is Cache, Android will only allow OS cache stored as whole in one location so even if an app is storable on SD unless that card is adopted storage the whole app will not tranefer to SD and even that is down to if you moved Cache to SD card too.

It is an OS function, problem with Android is the OEMs can do whatever they like and some don't want you to use the function so they disable it. Motorolas doesn't and an earlier poster said the Lenovo doesn't too (Motorolas parent company)

​Not sure if it's manufacturer based, I thought it was an OS feature? I've got the Moto G3 which also asked if you want to use it as a dedicated storage card, but again, only moves a few apps. The apps it does move also run or load slower, I've got a class 10 card and still loads very slow causing some apps to just crash.

Yes that is correct and I believe Samsung and Sony don't allow adoptable storage on their devices running Marshmallow.
But Lenovo allow it to be used on both my tablet and phone and I use a Samsung evo 64gb sd card without any problems.
When you first put the sd card in the device it asks if you want to use it as device OR removeable storage and if you chose device it tests the sd card to ensure it's fast enough.

But only if the manufacturer implements the function...some well know brands decided not too because it would confuse the owner (read: we cant sell more profitable models).

Motorola did allow it, not sure if this Lenovo does.

The main issue is you need a high spec fast transfer microsd or it will be a shed disaster. Its likely a memory card with a decent capacity that is fast will cost as much as the phone ish.

Ok so...is this a good buy? I have a Samsung Core Prime which I've had for 1yr and it's starting to play up. It doesn't show on the compare site I normally use.
Oh and I'm having the same issues with storage in that I have a 32gb sd card but the Samsung pretty much refuses to use it!

That's also not entirely true, Marshmallow allows an sd card to be used as adopted storage and can be merged into the devices existing storage making one large space instead of two smaller storage spaces.

On the topic of 8GB of storage, it might be just down to the version of Android you at running as to what it will allow - and it's not as simple as just 5 / 6.
I moved from a Moto 4G (3rd gen) to a Moto G4 Play.

The 4G had 8GB internal storage, and I added a 32GB microSD card. I installed apps on it, ran out of space, then tried to get apps to move / install on the SD card, but found in most cases with large apps I could only move the core of the app, but the "data" portion of it, would remain on the internal storage. Since for many games the bulk sat in the "data" rather than the app, it made the microSD useful for only pictures, music and videos.

Now on the G4 Play I have taken the same SD card with me, formatted just for this device and it not only allows me to install to the SD card, it seems to now use that by default.

Oddly both devices were running Marshmallow, and to my knowledge were as up to date with versions as the handset would allow. I've not bothered with rooting / sideloading etc. just taken what the phone could find when looking for software updates.

Now being able to properly expand the storage makes a load of difference and as we all know, it is far cheaper to buy 32/64GB micro SD cards than it is to pay for that to be built into the phone originally.

​That's not entirely true. Majority of apps don't run off sd cards, they cannot be moved from internal storage. Even when downloading apps that can be stored on sd cards, they need to download to your phone first so you'll need the space for that to begin with.
8gb will leave you with around 3/4gb of free space which if you're planning to use a lot of apps, is useless.
I have no games on my phone and very few apps and yet it's over 8gb.
8gb is only useful to use a phone as a phone, not a media device.

Only 1 gb ram otherwise I would have bought O2 website does not mention ram. Android phones with one gb ram give memory problems.

Got a refurb LGK4 as a backup from the same place , came as new (with generic usb cable only), you choose a tariff but pay no extra, next day free delivery....

And (for me) you can just shove a giffgaff sim in with no messing with unlocking.......
