It will run just about everything you could want from internet, apps and games. Its not a high spec gaming system but will run new games at ok frame rates. So yes at this price I would say its a good deal if you need a monitor and printer then also check the Bundle offer

I bought one of these and just turned it on for the first time today. It's terrible! It's done nothing but freeze since I turned it on along with making more noise (which I assume is from the fan) than it should for a brand new pc. I haven't even finished setting it up and I'm already thinking about taking it back. Within the first hour it's come up with a message saying there is a problem with one of the fans. First impressions are not good! Very laggy and non responsive. I guess I must have just got a faulty one but I'm not sure if it's just general with this model? Any advice from fellow owners would be greatly appreciated

anyone bought one of these - if so what are your first impressions? Looking for a reasonable desktop for the kids to use for homework, internet etc and this looks like it would fit the bill?

I bought this system on Thursday. It seems really fast and so far has handled everything nicely. I had open firefox with 20 tabs, edge, vlc, and cubase music software running several virtual instruments. This was using about 40% of the processor. I think this system will be fine for most applications. The onboard Radeon R7 graphics are so much better than my last PC, It renders web pages nicely, images look crisp and video is smooth. Having shopped around I would have struggled to get these specs for £300 so i think it's a decent deal. I did a benchmark test at geekbench and it got a single core score of 2341. Their benchmark score is 4000 for an Intel Core i7-6600U @ 2.60 GHz.

Looking to buy my daughter a PC for Xmas. This PC is in my budget but will this play Sims 4 & be OK for homework/internet etc? Thanks

My current PC is about 5 years old and has integrated intel graphics, it is starting to get rather slow. Although recently doubling the RAM to 4gb helped a little, I recently got a couple of adobe programs (premiere, photoshop), and although it runs, it doesn't work very smoothly.

Would you recommend this for smooth video and photo editing etc, and maybe the occasional game?

I want a decent desktop pc under about £350 and this seems like the best deal?

Will this computer support dual monitors?

Also, does it have a DVI port ?

Another question I have is the processor faster than a Core i3 ?

Seriously considering this. Put simply it should be able to play the games i want to play at a price of £300. At this price point that's a good deal. Anything is better than graphics hd for gaming and that's all you'll get at this price point on a intel based system.

Is this Desktop worth it if you just want to watch videos, save documents, edit podcasts, streaming and downloading ?

Can you add a dedicated graphics card into this build?... this is the only thing that holds me back from buying this HP.

I have just reserved one of these to pay in store later. My son wants to play Steam games including League of Legends. I don't understand any of it!. Will this PC support games on from Steam. He says he doesn't want high-end games because he will still use his xbox for those.

Frustratingly hard finding reviews but here's part of a review from heise.de, translated from German.

"Our past tests of Bristol Ridge and Carrizo chips showed that they only made small improvements compared to their predecessors. The A10-9700 also performs in CPU benchmarks virtually the same as the Carrizo Athlon X4 845 with the same clock frequency, or the two-year-old A10-7800 with Kaveri technology, which minimally clocks higher. the combined storage is over 2TB, so I'd be wanting to have additional room for more internal drives in case.

Anyone any idea how long it will be at this price? I'm still on the fence about it and need some time to think about it. Would like to know how long I have but can't see any end date for this price. Anyone? :smile:

Ok had chance to run a quick passmark cpu test and it scored 5188 did not have time to run other tests as its a gift for my daughter so had to pack it away before I picked her up.

please find me a i5 for 299. its unfair to compare. you should be comparing new i3 not i5, then show us benchmarks

Very sub-standard. Probably not worth the buck. Can't seem to find any information about the APU so I would have no idea about the benchmark but I would assume it would probably be okay for casual gamers. CPU is a 2mb cache on 3.5ghz quad core so it's definitely not the worst but the architecture on this model would be so old. It's probably ideal for somebody wanting an every 'home' computer and not run games. If you want a budget entry gaming PC, probably better to splash out an additional 200 pounds.

Not a great choice. Old technology at an inflated RRP, it's not really a deal. AMD is releasing a new Zen CPU in 2017 and it will be dumping these old cpus in the coming January sales as they are based on old tech that doesn't come close to even a basic Intel i3.

The reason people can not find much info about this APU is that so far its only been released to the big system builders like HP,Dell,Lenovo and so on. People should be able to buy it around the end of the year for home builds at which point lots more information about how well it runs will come out. As for the computer as a whole the hard drive is a little slow and the GPU can not be linked to a second card but it is DX12. Right now no other offers I have found come even close to these specs for this price.

Heated and reserved one for tomorrow. Gonna add 8gd ddr4 ram to it and hook it up to my 40 inch TV :smiley:

Can't find any definitive benchmarks for the APU, only a questionable Korean one.

Indications seem to be that CPU performance is comparable to an Intel i3 (but it does much better on heavily multithreaded applications). It's a high end APU but that still translated to a fairly weak CPU.

In terms of graphics, it looks like it does do a moderate level of gaming. 30+fps at 720p with medium to high settings. Performance drops heavily when you increase resolution as APUs use the system ram which is much slower than dedicated ram (and this system likely has slow ram).

Not bad at all. Only drawback is I assumed the expandability will be limited - hard to change or upgrade components as the size, motherboard capacity and warranty limited.
