will this work with a Worcester boiler for oil fuel that is located outside? we took the option of external boiler when we built our extension.

Bought 2 so far off amazon, both times british gas have turned up to fit with the full units, so you basically end up with a spare thermostat, sold mine for £90 on ebay so effectively both cost me £100

This!! Same happened to me, don't make the mistake of handing the unit to the engineer, he ended up fitting the one I ordered from Amazon after a call to head office!!
This is £9 month including install from British Gas if you have home care, £10 month if you don't. If you cancel after 12 months then you pay a fee of £70, so in total will cost you either £178 or £190.

Am sure I am missing something here but why buy a unit when b. Gas will bring and install one and you end up with a unit you don't need?
Do these work with combo boilers ...the timer on my boiler does not work I have to switch on the heating via the theromast by double clicking it round twice.

Because you get the thermostat and a voucher to call british gas to install, BG are supposed to bring the receiver only however bring a full kit leaving you to flog the thermostat, its the same price as BG
Also a combi will work but you have no separate heating and HW control

Can you explain this and it makes no sense to me? you purchased 2 Units from Amazon. Handed 1 unit to the engineer and sold the other for £90. Also, you say dont give the engineer the Unit??
