Got the silver version for £75 from Asda 3 years ago. The coffee tastes great when mixed with a little ground unicorn horn.

I never know whether it's best to wait until Black Friday for this sort of thing, or if I should bite the bullet one.

Camelcamelcamel suggests it was as low as £199.99 back in April, but there's no denying it's a great deal at this price.

Anyone know what the cappuccino is like out of this? I buy at least 1 a day.

I've had one for 2 year's now and it was money well spent (£240ish). I did send the first over back when the grinder jammed and they replaced it with no drama. Makes excellent espresso with a good crema. Milk frother can be fiddly - I bought a steel jug and prop it up on one of the mugs to get the angle right!

I have this exact model - I use it every day, it's great.
My top tip is that after a while the burr grinder wears in and you have to alter the grinder adjustment wheel to make a finer grind, this should be done whilst the grinder is running otherwise it has no effect. I think I paid £199 for mine (saw the deal here).

Really bad experience with mine. Bought it about 3 years ago, I eventually moved back to my old cafetiere and this is collecting dust in a cupboard.

The coffee it makes is good, but the machine doesn't work well. After the brew, the ground coffee gets constantly scattered everywhere inside the machine, instead of falling into the designated tray. This triggers the 'tray full' led, preventing the machine from operating until everything gets cleaned. Imagine to have to spend about 15min to clean the machine (and you'll need a hoover for that) every 3 to 5 espressos you make. So time wasting and annoying you just don't do it. I sent the machine to assistance a few weeks after buying it (first I tried different coffee brands/types, then adjusting the grinding), got it back with a diagnosis that it 'works as intended'.

Bad machine, worse assistance. Total waste of money.

Does this use the equivalent of pressurised filter baskets and a low end burr grinder?

Seems alright but doubt it produces "proper espresso" like a Gaggia Classic or Rancilio Silvia coupled with a decent grinder

Spent grinds can be put on your flower beds - how environmentally friendly is that - better than nespresso etc plastic filling the land fills.

Got one of these, used to get my decaff beans from Costco online. The Starbucks decaff beans they sell instore are also good.

I am unfamiliar with this type of coffee machine. Would it be suitable for high volume use? My Dev team has 6 coffee drinkers and we consume about 4 pots of coffee per day (say 25 cups). How long does a single cup take to make, and can it do multiple back to back? My concern is that if 6 people want their coffee at 9am, person 6 wont get their cup until 10am...

Great coffee machine. I have owned mine since March 2015 and it is still going strong!

The service was from Delonghi - if you're a member of their coffee club they send emails now and again. In this instance they advertised a special offer for a £56 service including delivery - I spent another £5-10 packaging it up.

Quite a thorough clean and highly recommended. Think that promotion has expired now but usual cost is only £20 more

It costs £70 - however they ran a 20% promotion during the summer so it was £56 with collection delivery. It was via Delonghi. The service involves fixing/changing any damaged parts and a full clean and descale.

We have the same machine. It gets a lot of use and I wouldn't like to be without it

Can only echo everyone else. Bought this for £199 about 5 years ago and it's one of the best thing I've ever bought.

Bought the ESAM4000 (black version) a couple of years ago for £104 HERE and it's been a great machine, pumping a couple of espresso's every day since.

Bought this machine for £199 almost 3 years ago and it's made at least two espressos every day without fail.

Excellent bit of kit.

Had this machine for about 5 years and its great. Important to keep the machine descaled. Makes a difference to the taste of the coffee and also how long the machine will last you.

This is a quality machine, great feature is that you can use ground coffee.
So after midday I grind up some decaf beans and use them for a great tasting coffee.
