I got a Casio FX-100 Scientific when I did my A level maths and Physics in 1979-1981........
I still use it virtually every day even now.... and it still has the original pouch!
*sigh* - LOL.

This is only officially recommended for GCSE now, A-level and degree is the FX-991.
I have the FX85 GT plus calculator which i believe is identical except it has the solar panel (correct me if I'm wrong)
I have used the calculator for an engineering course in which the maths is at a similar standard to A-level and the calculator has every function I needed plus loads more.
My tutor said the calculator would also be adequate to use all the way to degree level in mech engineering so it must be quite a good one

You'll be well served by that calculator, I used the same for MSc mechanical engineering and as a Chartered Engineer I still use it daily. It is the second item out of my cupboard every morning after my mug

When I got my calculator out this morning (after my mug, naturally) I noticed that it is actually the fx-991ES PLUS model. Don't know what the differences are, it's all in the hands of the user of course
