I've had both and the tassimo uses an automatic bar code system on its pods so makes a perfectly measured drink. The dolce gusto is manual so you have to stop/start yourself when using milk/coffee pods which can be tricky to get used to. More expensive models have an automatic feature but I've not looked in to this.

Taste wise they are both good and feel like a treat. Tassimo edges it slightly with its Costa brand as well as others different choices where as the dolce gusto is all Nescafé and has some interesting options. Very tasty in their own right.

Dolce Gusto pods are slightly cheaper than tassimo costa pods and both can feel expensive in supermarkets when not on offer. But regardless of which one you choose,have a look subscribe and save with amazon as you can save a fortune.

If you've never had a drinks machine like these before then you'll not be disappointed with either choice, but for ease of use Tassimo edges it.
