is it because of the date frozen ?
Frozen on the 27th Jan 2015
I know it is still in date but perhaps it was stock left over from last xmas.
so maybe that store only?

We picked up our Xmas turkey from Asda a couple of weeks ago.
It was £12 for an extra large one...was at least twice that price last year.
All sizes were great prices, but when we went last week they didn't even have turkeys in stock.
Thought it must have been a misprice, and they would give it a week or two before putting back in store for Xmas at a higher price.

if it was frozen on 27 Jan 2015 and the use by is the end of 2017 that is almost 3 years! Does that seem like a long time to anyone else?

had to vote it cold on the grounds of taste/ flavour/ texture
all will have been impaired by now - that's a long time in the freezer!
perfectly safe to cook & eat, though
personally I'd rather spend a couple of £ more to get one from 2016  - recently killed if possible
