Have a look at XDA - I have a feeling no root for 5.3.2 but it is possible to rollback to 5.3.1 and then root from there. Anyway XDA has it all.

wonderful answer, thank you. Only issue being it HAS OTA updated to 5.3.2 i think. I did the hack to install google play and block ota but it seems the later didnt work...
If you want to mod do not let it connect to your home network and autoupdate. Keep aeroplane mode on until you have at least rooted and blocked OTA updates.
I bought 2 from John Lewis both running v5.1.1 - I have rooted, blocked OTA updates, removed ads, and installed Play Store. That is all I need for now.

Personally, for the sake of a tenner I would go for the 16gb. However, both are expandable to 200gb, so it really doesn't make too much of a difference.

Will this work with the HD6 4th Gen Fire Tablet? I mainly want to install Google Play. I've already got rid of the ads, and don't want to make it into a vanilla Android tablet.

FYI - these tablets do come pre-loaded with Special Offers, unfortunately. I just contacted Amazon to ask whether they can remove the ads for free, but they said no. Last year, it was definitely easier....

Yeah bit annoying as the HD 8 was discounted in the States and I was after one as 7 too small. Managed to get a hudl 2 in the tesco deal so not too bothered now but kinda crap they didn't reduce it for us when they did over the Pont and the 7 was discounted

Using mine just now, first thing you should install is 1 mobile app store. Makes installing things like Kodi (and the auto set up Kodi apps) a breeze, also has all the other missing apps from the Amazon app store.

Yes you can. If your prime account ends (i.e. after 30 day trial) the video can no longer be viewed if you connect to the internet, although it seems to stay on forever if never re-connecting it. Useful for kids etc, download a few films to keep. The only thing I would say is I've not tried storing on the SD card, just the included internal memory.

Blue Light affects Melatonin production which means that it's harder to sleep for many people if they've been looking at screens emitting colour temperatures that affect Melatonin production later in the evening. Changing the colour temperature using an app that does this automatically based on sunset/sunrise is supposed to help. Apple also have this built in to their IOS system since version IOS9, the feature is called Night Shift.

The 7" Fire has quad core A7 processor which is like four low power cores versus the Fire 6 HD's quad core processor of two high performance A15 and two low power A7s. Therefore the Fire 6 HD has the better processor but I am buying the 7" because my Nvidia Tegra 4 Note (4 x A15) has stopped charging after about 2 years. That tablet had 1GB RAM too and struggled with some webpages but was generally okay. The difference would be noticeable at times so I would choose the 6 HD if the price was right and you're okay with the smaller screen.

Couldn't get it to work on a 5th gen i was able to sideload it and install but at the point where you choose your first pokemon when throwing the pokeballs it would never target so you can't progress past that point.£29.99 is a decent price but i can say the quality is not even close to the 1st gen fire hd it is one solid tablet especially the toughened screen these newer generation screens do not take much abuse.
