This seems like a really good deal for an i5, full HD, 258ssd, GTX950M laptop, which is pretty much the spec I was looking for.
Can anyone see any obvious faults which I may be missing?

I've been using this laptop over the weekend now and I can confirm that it is a very nice machine. It boots up very quickly thanks to the SSD, and it can play Civ VI on Ultra settings, so it's perfect for me. Nice and loud speakers also. Only downside that I have found so far is that the screen doesn't have great viewing angles, but not bad enough to be a deal breaker.

I just realized that it is only 1.1 % cashback (not 11%) through Flubit, so I might change my mind now.

Sorry that I did not notice the question on Amazon’s page.
I think that £15 Flubit discount plus 11% Quidco cashback (it is only 2.2% cashback in the case of ordering from ebuyer) pretty much outweigh the differences between 6200 cpu - 7200 cpu and 128GB SSD - 256GB SSD. Therefore, I will go with Flubit’s offer.

This model has the i5-7200U Intel chip, i can see that the same model with the i5-6200U chip is retailing from £649.99 upwards, so hot from me.
Managed to get £15 knocked off for Flubit, plus 11% cashback, HAWT from me. :sunglasses:

Flubit offered me £584.99 based on Amazon's deal shown below: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01J3UWA00/?tag=ho01f-21
However, Amazon's one does not say anything about 256GB SSD. Do you have any idea whether the two laptops in Amazon and Ebuyer are the same?

Try and XPS then as they are the smallest 13 and 15" laptops you can get, but you will pay for them a bit more than this model, but i think the 15" comes with a HQ processor and a 960GTX.

This is exactly the same model - http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/NX.GD6EK.009-Acer-Aspire-F15-(F5-573G)_2062710.html
Laptops aren't really that upgradeable apart from more ram and ssd
The thing that holds me back on this is it's the same screen as on the other F15's and although full HD it ain't exactly a good TN panel, seeing as you spend all your time looking at the screen - that's pretty important and a show stopper for me I think - good spec and price shame about the display - see what Monday brings

The Amazon one is the 6200 Cpu with 128gb not 256gb - type in NX.GD6EK.002 on the acer site
The Ebuyer one is - NX.GD6EK.009 7200 cpu with 256gb ssd
SSD is possibly in m2 slot struggling to find a review of this exact model - looks a decent buy £700 elsewhere

I don't need the graphics card as it won't be used a gaming laptop, so ideally want this specification but without the graphics card and hopefully < £500.

I ended up going for this Acer deal.
The MSI and the Zoostorm both don't have SSDs, and the MSI is only the 2gb version of the GTX 950m whilst the Zoostorm doesn't specify.
The Acer may have a slightly worse processor, but a 256gb SSD, as well as a 1tb hard drive and 4gb GTX 950M makes this a good deal to me.
So far this seems like the best specification for your money, I'm surprised it doesn't have more heat.
john_forster
25 Nov 16#31
Do you think it is overpriced then? Says there are 140 in stock so prob good to wait to see if any offers in morning.

25 Nov 16#29
Is this a good deal? It doesn't have much heat but the specs look good - makes me think I'm missing something. Do you reckon worth waiting for cyber Monday? Tempted by this as can do 0% on PayPal and think spec is good enough for it to last a while.

The problem is the price, if it was going for £300 the deal would have been expired by now cos there would be none left in stock

This laptop is light but not in the league of the Mac book air. It would also be too big for a flight. Anything with a GTX under the bonnet is going to be the same.

Thanks for letting me know. I have a 2014 macbook air now and want a serious upgrade spec wise as I like to edit videos so this does look good. I sometimes find the 13" a bit big on planes and to fit in my bag so the 15" puts me off a bit.

25 Nov 16#9
There aren't really any reviews of this model with these specs, but I've been digging around, and it seems as though similar machines should run most FPS games well at medium, maybe 30 fps at high if they are well optimised. This seems like pretty much the perfect mid-range gaming laptop - it will blitz through older games, and probably be able to play most new releases for the next couple of years. I just want it for Civ 6, which it should handle easily - I'm giving it until my lunch break to decide whether to buy it or hope for something even better on cyber monday.
