Seriously, do not bother with the 500gb model. The size of the downloads on XB1 is massive and you'll fill it up in no time and have to fork out for an external HDD anyway. Go for 1TB minimum.

If you had a 4K true HDR TV with this! Wow gaming fun. Great selection of three very different games. All incredibly good fun. Bargain price. Buy a external hard drive with this and you're good to go for a long time. Well until the Scorpio comes out :wink:

It just varies per game, many games run the same on both platforms. If I'm not mistaken every PS4 and Xbox One game will be locked at the same frame rate and for the most part the same resolution as well, but each will obviously perform slightly differently. The one game I remember being 900p on Xbox One was Arkham Knight, while being 1080p on PS4.

Scorpio is a completely different console though, and bears no relevance to what is the better choice of console today.

When PS Now was first talked about (before it was even called PS Now), they originally claimed you could play your PS3 Games on the PS4 for free by just putting the disc in the drive! didn't happen. shocker!

I doubt the scorpio will be fully backwards compatible, and the trade in will be for a pittance and probably not worth doing.

Because there is a lot of people who are still happy with the last generation of consoles and have yet to upgrade... Like me! We have a 360 and the family are happy with this however games are now drying up......Plus they have gone through most of the early adopters and will have clawed back the money spend developing the PS4 and Xbox 1

Yep, this is me. Finally sold my Xbox 360 to CEX for £25 a month ago - not too bad considering that it was 10 years old. Only got rid of it because the two online games I am interested in - Doom and Battlefield 1 - are not available on Xbox 360.

But now I have no loyalty to either brand - just trying to work out which is the best deal for me between the Xbox S and the PS4. I was considering the Xbox S but the fan/clicking noise thing has put me off as has the download games bundled with them.

MS have a long series of failed promises behind them. I have worked with MS technology since 1987 and the amount of times I have learned very complex new server or software technologies which MS have hailed as the future, only for MS to lose interest and dump them a year or two down the line, finally turned me off MS a few years back. The fan/clicking noise on the Xbox S is very sloppy - that sort of thing should not have been allowed in such an important product for MS but it just shows how poor the development of these things are at MS IMPO.

Yeap, fact's, got to love them, looking forward to the Scorpio myself, BC with both Xb1 and 360 game is a big win for me because i simply have too much invested to simply walk away from all that content, i am glad MS are now seeing this as the norm, i take my steam account with me when i upgrade my PC and i am now happy my Xbox stuff will do the same now, nice to say the least.

Yes this is the new Xbox and it's out now, just make sure it's got the S on the end of the Xbox One name and you know you have the right model.
(The S stands for slim as it's smaller and has better features than the old model.)

Tried the forza 3 demo. Looks pretty, first forza game and racing game I've played since need for speed porsche. I guess you need a proper steering wheel setup to appreciate it. Story mode seemed utterly ridiculous though, I can suspend my disbelief for GTA games, but it just felt forced too. I'm guessing people will be buying it solely for multiplayer.

It's nice to see they have added back old features such as the Auction House, no idea where that's been for all these years! - Might be something to do with me hacking it on the 360 and giving myself unlimited credits then gifting 250 GTO's to everyone on Forza 3 and 4. The amount of gamertags Turn10 banned of mine, i lost count

Forza used to be a necessity in my collection. But meh........ can take it or leave it now, not the game it once was.

i looked it up and that's the scorpio machine, which will be out in about 14 months. this is just a slim xbone which is no good, it renders games in 720p and up scales to 1080p.... not good

I had 2 gaming laptops and gave up on pc gaming, too many issues with servers (cheating, etc), having to deal with patches, etc...

I still have a desktop that can play most games on medium settings but I don't use it much...

Here is a video of someone taking the XBOX S fan apart in order to try and figure out what is causing the noise. He concludes that the noise is part of the normal operation of the fan. Basically, there is nothing you can do if your fan is noisy or it develops a noise issue days, weeks or months from now.

Quick question for those who got this and use an external USB.....
Does an external hard drive work on USB port 2 on the back, or just USB port 1?
My portable hard drive works fine on port 1 on the back and on the USB port at the front. But will not work on port 2 on the back - although the light on the hard drive does light up and it works for the plug and play kit so does work, just not with the hard drive.
Wondering if this is standard, or if mine's slightly faulty.

It's not an issue now anyway as I've moved all the games from my 1TB hard drive onto the 2TB one by plugging one of them into the front but, in the future if I wanted to add another 2TB hard drive it would be an issue, as certainly doesnt look great with the cable trailing from the front for the hard drive.
