is this any good? heard of it but never really looked at the game itself, does this play well as single player camping or is it online only, looks like halo type. I am looking for some new games to play, also got my eyes on the new forza, was looking forward to playing mafia 3 but review are not that great. choices, choices...

I didn't like the demo at launch, but I bought this last week and it's brilliant fun. It's an action FPS, but you're constantly upgrading your gear. I normally play solo, but it's viable for single or multiplayer in teams. The raids and strikes are team based.
Definitely worth the price.
Also, it gives you a level 40 boost (straight to end game level), and a level 25 boost. I'm working my way through from scratch, and will use those on alternative characters.

Its perfectly playable as a single player, that's how I play cus I'm 32 and none of my mates play PlayStation anymore. There is a hell of a lot of content to go at if your starting from scratch. Most multiplayer content has matchmaking, so it will just pair you with a fireteam; most missions dont require much cooperation, and no one chats. You only need to team up for Nightfall Strikes (The hardest standard missions), Raids (End game, multistage co-op missions), Some Prison of Elders (Horde mode) and Trials of Osiris (Team deathmatch thing..have never played), you can use Looking for Group (LFG) websites to find a team but I gave on on them, as I got sick of listening to mouthy Yanks. Get the game, you won't regret it, it is the most enjoyable FPS I've ever played.

ugh, it's a double edged sword.
If you were on board with them from the start, buying new DLC as it came out etc, then they kinda fleeced you and they should not be rewarded for you incrementally giving them your money.
However, that game and price as it stands for ALL the content, is pretty good. I've been a casual player since the start and recently got back on for the Taken King expansion. I play almost exclusively single player and so far I'm enjoying playing story missions which make no sense, but theres a nice sense of reward to gameplay. always a gun or some armour to level up. People go wild for raids but I haven't done any (I think, could be missing a trick there).
But yeah, decent amount of content for that price if you're brand new to it.

I wasn't meaning to criticise your post at all - merely getting in there before the usual level of helpfulness that some on here are displaying these days. I like reading opinions on here too but it sounds like you can already make your mind up on this game from what you've said about it so far. One thing I would say about this game is for the amount of money it had thrown at it, the collision detection is pathetic. I could be accused of being a graphics snob - or else I don't tend to feel a great sense of realism when I'm standing right through the middle of someone. But if you don't mind that kind of issue and you like Halo then try it. Although I'd wait for this to drop a bit to say £20.

Well, one of the best addictive games around. I dont think there are better games in this genre than destiny.
And you have got to get on now coz by the time it goes below £20 most people would have finished playing it anyway.

This is getting like a greatest hits album where you can bring out a slightly newer version each year because you have a new song. I have the previous "greatest hits" album that included that chart topper, "The Taken King". Is it possible to just buy Rise of Iron from the store and if so, how much? Sorry for being lazy and not checking myself, but I'm lazy.

It is indeed.
There's a DLC code included.
You get a level 40 and a level 25 instant upgrade thing as well as the Rise of Iron stuff, and a nifty rocket launcher.
But the disc itself is just a standard destiny disc.

Vanilla Destiny now exists on PSN as a "demo" for The Taken King. It can't be bought anymore. I think that downloading the "demo" and redeeming all the codes from this box effectively gets you the complete collection digitally.

How did you get the level 25 boost? When I loaded the game and entered the codes I only got the level 40 boost. I played the trial version and then bought the collection.

IDK if it was a glitch but I only had the demo on PS4 when The Taken King came out last year and I got a lvl 25 boost - which I used to level-up a new character. It took me over the normal level cap and granted access to areas normally off limits in the demo. I bought The Taken King shortly after and I'm still playing the same characters now (plus one more as I wanted one of each class). The demo was enough to start the addiction...
If anyone plumps for Destiny on PS4 - message me 'Adam_Harvey' (ps4 screen-name) and I'll send you a referral code for some exclusive gear and missions - courtesy of Bungie's Refer a Friend scheme. Of course, if you already know someone that has the game, it would make sense for you to ask them for a referral code. (There I go - doing myself out of rewards that I'd share for a referral...)
Edit: I also got a lvl 40 boost when I put in the code for Rise of Iron. I wonder if you stop entering codes at The Taken King and play up to lvl 3 or so (after which you can get to the tower) - then visit the Post Master - perhaps you'd get the lvl 25 boost. Another theory if you only got the lvl 40 boost: start a second character, play til you can go to the tower and see if the Post Master has a lvl 25 boost waiting for you...
If you're new (played less than 7 days) and on PS4 let me know if want a referral code... :o)
Google for "Destiny codes" if you want extra shaders and emblems. There are (I think) thirty something promotional codes that can be redeemed on Bungie's web-site. A few web-sites have published the full set.

surprisingly positive comments for a destiny thread - I'm a week one player and have been addicted for a good while and generally love the game - the game is praised and hated on - in general bungie has changed the game to be more accessible to all types of players - it's also more rewarding than it used to be - people will like destiny for different reasons - if you just want to sample the gameplay and play crucible you can pick up a vanilla copy for 5-8 quid effectively a large demo of what else is on offer 30 quid for all of it is great - I personally like raids and that tends to be the height of destiny gameplay but equally you can play destiny the way you want and still get rewarded (plus people who just like PvP have more options than in the past) - people will always hate destiny or dislike it for different reasons but I do love it and hope others get into the game too - hopefully not dissuaded by other bad feedback - if you don't like it then it's not the end of the world

got it for £32 last week and after redownloading the 50gb game twice because i had the trial version already on my ps4 and it wouldn't let me play full version i gave up (since solved) and put some time into the division, which is excellent thus far. great price for what is likely to be the entire year1 of destiny, and fun game but anyone on the fence can try the trial version first - just be sure to delete it before buying the game !

apparently if you input code inside case to PS store you can download full game and never need disk - that's what i tried to do but because i had trial version on my account even after 2 downloads it wouldn't unlock full game. sticking disk in prompts you to convert to disk-based and delete unneeded files from HDD - unlocked full game but i can't get the £3 cex offer for trade-in disk only (and i can't be arsed to download the 50gb a third time)
