Not a great price imho but given the stupid price and serious lack of stock on the WD my book 8tb drive I guess this is the way to go.
2 of these are cheaper than an 8tb my book plus you get an extra 2tb :smirk:

That Tosh Canvio looks interesting for £105.. although I've heard it's noisy and runs rather hot? (Although I'll be removing from case and installing in desktop). Anyone had experience of these?

I've had smaller versions of the Canvio, 3TB which got to about 3 1/2 years and started getting hdd errors, have had a 4TB for similar time and it keeps disappearing from Windows, it's a power saving mode from what I believe that can't be disabled and you have to unplug or reboot the pc to get the drive detected again.

Re Toshiba Canvio: doesn't appear so .. more noisy than a WD green (when seeking) and a bit hotter, but for me this is a Worm drive, 200Mb/s consistent, writes, over usb3, reads also 200Mb/s ...
