I've made peanut butter shortbread and it was pretty good, dry and flaky and salty. Then I was talking to my mam who came back from a funeral (she does about 3 a week!) and she had shortbread and it was like lard and sugar and Kendal mint cake in one 3mm x 5mm block. Truly grim if you don't like sweet stuff. I genuinely spat it out. Is it an Irish thing or do old people just ignore their taste buds?

The assortment is just shape. Fingers, petticoat tails, rounds... That sort of thing just normal shortbread.
