I've been looking for cheap pre Christmas summer sun and found these flights... my kids break up on Friday 16th this year so they will have a cold for last 2 days of term... they do next to nothing last 2 days before xmas at our primary school anyhow, so please no one start boring me about education blah blah
early flight out at 07:10 but I find these times better as you get the full seven days in resort and make your most of separately booked all inclusive!
Return flight at 12 midday which is ideal as for me as we get up, have breakfast and check out and no waiting around all day...
These can be combined with various all inclusive deals via travel republic website or others if you would rather book flights, accommodation transfers etc all with one company...

Kamenitzabrit, please don't sympathise with my situation, I don't need the sympathy, I could write an essay or even a book if I chose to trade off my valuable life and more important to me my whole family life. I'll give you a few basic facts...
I can afford to take my kids in School holiday but I wouldn't choose to waste an extra 3K to holiday between Christmas and new year when the last 2 days at school consist of singing in church and a toy day... my wife has had several operations recently and we have decided to do this so please bore off with your one dimensional educational view.. meanwhile The three grand I've saved, I've actually already spent on extra tutoring for my children to enable them to be able to complete the entrance exams for the top 100 rated in U.K. Totally free to enter selective grammar school which is in catchment area of where we live...
I now feel like I'm writing a book in response to a boring one dimensional right or wrong and no inbetween analysis of family budget and opportunity cost analysis type of person

Brilliant idea- all schools close a week earlier than usual, so parents can take their kids away on holiday !
What would happen then is that prices would be cheaper a week earlier than usual, and so some parents will start taking their kids out a few days before that i.e. 10 days before the 'proper' end of term....... and so on.
Is it any wonder that international tests show that British education, once the envy of most of the world, is now lagging far behind the 'primitive' systems of some Eastern European countries ?
Don't misunderstand, I do sympathise with the situation, but think that the fact most schools do nothing for the last week or so is a mistake, and leads to parents believing their children won't miss anything if they stay away - the schools should at least do proper course work for even 50% of the time, so that those who skip classes will actually suffer, and stop parents from treating school like a child minding service, and then complain if the teachers don't put any effort into the teaching.

My kids only get colds the week leading up to Christmas, it's a terrible time of year for germs and a great time of year to pick up a holiday bargain!

If taking a kid out for a few days is disruptive, how do they deal with the gap between the top and bottom students in that class?
The education system as it is now is a farse.

Yes our education was once envy of world in the past even though kids had term time holidays. Maybe we should return to letting kids have some term time leave .As it seemed to work in past

Why do holiday deals always end up referencing schools and teachers! This is a good deal regardless of school holidays

Heat added, as great price, but I dread to think what a 4.5 hour Ryanair flight is like, especially with kids.

Dress it up, minimise, justify, deny the consequences...it's still taking a child out of school when they're legally obliged to be there.

Actually, they are legally obliged to be educated, not to be in a school. Now there is nothing to be said about teaching half yourself, and half in a school... BUT it's the school that won't have this because they only care/can handle full time students (for the most).
Its the school that "suffers", not the child's education.
