Wow, what a bargain price for an excellent, fairly new shmup on the XB1. Gold members only, part of Deals with Gold this week.

Not a shmup fan eh? There's a level of detail in the sprite work that you're probably overlooking, but these games are generally kept simple looking because gameplay is so finely tuned that any drop in framerates and such would be detrimental to the experience.
I've dropped £40 many times before on games like Ikaruga, DoDonPachi, Mushihimesama and Espgaluda and always had more than my monies worth. They're just so endlessly replayable. Certainly more so than your average Call Of Duty these days.

This was £40?!
Looks like a £10 Xbox Arcade title at best!

Oh I love shoot em ups!
It was a genuine statement, it was not so long ago that this game would have been £10 at launch on Xbox Live.
£40 is the going rate for huge AAA titles (on disc) so £40 for this is a bit of a joke!

Thanks heatlight!
After googling what shmup is, the game looks interesting.

I think you're underestimating the quality of this game, sure there are some shmups on XBLA for that price, but these are fully fledged titles which command a high RRP. The Raiden series has always launched at full price, usually with a disc launch (V was skipped in this region although did receive a physical launch in Japan).
I accept that most people will baulk at that kind of money for something that looks (in stills, at least) quite basic, but for fans of the genre it's pretty normal to pay £40 and up for a shmup. Thankfully I had passed on this title so I'm extremely grateful for the huge discount.
