Honestly when it comes down to deciding which console to buy, you choose 1.) which one most of your friends have (assuming you'll all up for playing online together) and/or 2.) which exclusive games you prefer.
Unless you don't play games much and just stick to the usual FIFA and CoD, then games and friends should be the only way you choose a console.

Rubbish.
You decide what console to buy because of how good it looks under the tv and then if no one else has one you convince them they need one.
Nothing to do with games.

I looked yesterday and they had the 1TB and BF1 for a few pence under £287 IIRC. I was expecting that to be £249.99 by this weekend.

Just got back from a break away and last night went to play but world of final fantasy and it wouldn't power on, it seems no power is getting to the console.
Tried changing power & HDMI leads but still nothing :/

Has your PS4 been knocked or dropped? Sometimes the internal PSU can move slightly which stops power. When I was installing a new media unit, I accidentally dropped my ps4 from the height of a few inches when I was fitting a shelf and it stopped working. I unplugged the PS4, held it with the top of the unit towards me so that the power/eject buttons were facing downwards and dropped it onto my legs a couple of times (in a sitting position) again from a few inches. This re-seated the PSU and it worked again and has been fine ever since

I have ruled out the Xbox. Now torn between the Slim or the Pro. I worry about the Pro being noisy. I don't believe any of the 4K nonsense but the idea that it might give a stable 60fps at 1080P is perhaps the only reason to go for it. I still think that the Pro 2 will be out in 12 months so... not sure it is worth the money plus it is a tad risque buying the latest thing if it turns out to have problems.

I've spent a few days reading the reviews. This is how I see it now:
- If you want a good entertainment system with a blu ray player get the Xbox one S
- If you want a better gaming experience with 4K* and Virtual Reality is your thing then get the PS4 Pro.
Yes like you I also agree that the ps4 pro has not been throughly tested I bet it will have a few teething problems lol
* Denotes that that is not true 4k apparently upscaled!

What nonsense is that then?
tawse57
30 Oct 16#27
Yep, the Pro is not 4K for a whole variety of technical reasons. There are several good techie videos on youtube going into great detail why not.
The advice appears to be if you do not have a PS4 then you may as well buy a PS4 Pro if you have a 4K TV but if you do not have a 4K TV then a Slim will do.

do u have a 4k tv? I plan to upgrade and buy one very soon therefore a 4k console would be advantageous
it is just a risk tho - how would we know what the ps4 pro is going to be like?! most of my mates are on ps4 too that is a reason why I stray away from the xbox one s.
tawse57

I only have a 720P TV which, although state of the art when I bought it, is coming up to 10 years old. So I am planning on buying a new TV.
I was planning on getting a 1080P Sony or Samsung but they are getting harder to get as both have gone over to 4K. But 4K with a lot of these TVs is not really true 4K yet just as HDR is not true HDR yet on many TVs. I think it will not be until Christmas 2017 that true 4K true HDR TVs will be widely available.
If your mates are on the PS4 then get a PS4. I really am not convinced that the Pro is worth the extra money - the sensible thing to do would be to wait for 6 weeks and read a load of reviews of it. What if it does not give 60 fps at 1080P? What if it is noisy.
With Scorpio coming next year I am convinced that Sony will have to up the specs of the pro by adding a true 4K UHD DVD drive AND also upping it to true 4K instead of upscaling. Your new 4K TV is going to upscale a PS4 Slim anyhow.
Maybe the sensible thing is to get the Slim for around £230 with a game and simply wait 12 months.

Thanks that's sound advice. Thinking about costs too, after all this is hotukDEALS the ps4 slim is very good value for money. I have been an xbox man for my entirety. Got the original xbox and the 360. My PS3 is gathering dust, played it a few times but it was bought to entertainment purposes.
Anyway does the ps4 slim utilise 4k? I thought it was 1080p/i only?

30 Oct 16#34
I have never used a PS having been, like you, an xbox guy for 10 years. I was going to buy a new xbox but BF1 looks dire on the xbox compared to the PS4.
No, the PS4 Slim is not 4K - but then the Pro is not true 4K either.
Here are some videos to watch where people argue whether to buy the Pro or not:
so what do you think you will go for? my latest console is a nintendo wii u lol
I also have a xbox 360 and ps3. Both of which I never use much anymore!

I am toying of buying the 500GB Tesco PS4 BF1 deal for £228 tonight before it expires... but I worry about the 1TB being the same price tomorrow OR BF1 no longer being in a cheap bundle.
I cannot see the benefit to me of the Pro other than maybe 60fps at 1080P. But what if it sounds like a jet engine.
I think spending £228 on the PS4 Slim now and another £250 or so on a good Samsug or Sony 1080P TV will suffice. I don't think that we will see decent 4K TVs for anothe year at least and perhaps not for another 2 years.
