No disrespect but I find that amazing to believe' unless you are abusing them then 3 separate tools to fail in the time as you describe is simply incredible.
I've nothing else to add except your comment is hard to believe or you've just been very unlucky with unlucky.
oh and by the way I've got a couple of macallister tools (B&Q own brand bench grinder & also angle grinder ) as well as a few Titan ( screwfix own brand ) tools used regularly well over 2 years now and not an ounce of trouble.

SDS drills in homebase for £29 , not sure how it compares to this one

I've had a few Mac Allister power tools - a lawn mower, a router and an angle grinder and in each case the motor has burnt out between 12 and 18 months - the router had only made 4 cuts during that time. On this basis I really wouldn't recommend Mac Allister products, even at this price. For just a few quid more the Titan tools from Screwfix are a better bet.

The Titan SDS looks identical to the McAlister one apart from the colour

It may be the same, I imagine that Screwfix's Titan range are just rebadged generic tools, as B&Q's will be. I'm just saying that I've had bad experiences with McAlister tools - three failing just outside warranty after only light use - whereas my Titan SDS drill has been worked fairly hard (DIY, not trade) and is still going strong. Maybe I was just unlucky with the B&Q stuff, or lucky with the Titan, but based on my experiences I'd never buy a McAlister power tool again.

I'll second the Titan £50 at Screwfix. I've really given it some abuse and it hasn't missed a beat. Voted hot on this deal though as great price and no personal experience of Macallister

Own a few McAlister tools, and tbh for budget kit they are fine. I can't imagine many DIYers being disappointed.
