Our LG direct drive washing machine packed up this week at a grand old age of over 13 years. I spent yesterday shopping around for another LG direct drive and this FH4U2VCN4 with a 5 year warranty was at £549.99. I found that it had previously been on a deal here at £379 two months ago so was naturally gutted I had missed that. Carried on looking today and it has been reduced this morning down to £399 plus you can get 2.5% TopCashBack. Ordered today ready for delivery tomorrow.

I own this. She is supreme. Best feature is the song she sings when she's finished.

What's better, this or the Samsung washing machine that was recently posted (that has now expired, but seems to regularly drop to £399)?
In the market for a new washer & tumble drier.

I saw that samsung ecobubble at £399 too which looks nice but opted to stick with LG due to past experience with the direct drive. Hoping that the fact there is no belt or tension will ensure bearings last longer. Just hope they still make them like they used to. Unfortunately most things these days don't seem to be made to last

There are about 7 tumble dryer manufacturers you need to avoid (fire risk)
Hotpoint, creda, swan, proline, indesit are 5 i can think about off hand (Maybe certain Beko condensing dryers?) as well.
Do your research

don't get your washing machine installed by Curry's .THEY DO NOT EMPLOY ANY PLUMBERS OR ANYBODY WHO KNOWS WHAT TO DO
Its the driver and his mate that connects the washer but they are self employed and in my case fitted washer to a washer trap that was way too small and would have leaked if turned on, it wasn't level and it was damaged at the side. 6 delivery men later they took it away and I eventually got a refund. NEVER EVER AGAIN

You don't need a plumber to fit a washing machine if you had one before modern machines there's just a cold hose that screws on & the drain hose that either fits to a trap with a jubilee clip or just drops down a stand pipe.
You don't need to be a plumber unless you've never had a washing machine there before. It's 5 mins work with no tools 99% of the time

To be fair a plumber isn't required for connecting up a washing machine hose. If you can successfully screw the lid back on a tube of toothpaste, you're qualified.

there has never been a washer fitted just the pipes, even though it said in the user's instructions the trap needed to be more than double the height minimum Curry's didn't care.

I did manage to use a discount scheme at work to get 8% off via vouchers so effectively it has cost me £360 (including cashback) which is pretty good but £345 would have been better! I feel like I've actually been robbed of £15...

But the bearings have a heavy rotor hung on them instead, and the torsion caused by the even heavier drum on the other side would dwarf the slight pull of a belt.
