I think you'll find it's AVG that is the more intrusive. This or ESET are my picks

thanks

Read the description and don't know if this for a year protection or life, does anyone know?
I currently use avast and they charge per year.

The price is for 12 months. I have used Kaspersky for a few year and have always found it to be very effective but not as intrusive as Norton or McAfee.

Fully agreed! I have tried several over the years. ESET or this performed far better and most importantly taking less system resources

I have been let down by free AVG in the past. I also use Eset NOD32 and get cheap licences on eBay or Amazon. This product works well, is unobtrusive and has good telephone support.

As it looks like this is for a years subscription, can u use it for just one device for 10 years?

Don't think so. The 12 month clock starts ticking when the first device uses the first subscription.

From past experience the code you are given will work for the next version. At one point The Works were selling old retail boxes of internet protection but the code worked on the most recent version. I cant imaging staples etc throwing all the 2016 boxes away on the 31st December.

25 Oct 162#18
It'd be great if I could pay £1.44 only for one device
Previous versions of Kaspersky used to be a bit heavy in terms of resource usage, that said it did seem to do the job it said on the Tin and for under £15 for a 10 device license it's probably worthwhile.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fanboy and will use whatever is best each year, but they're pretty much nailed it the last 2 years.

Nice, I did just install the eval version on a fairly low end laptop and it seemed ok, certainly much better than it would have been a few years back

I've been using 2017 Total Security for a few weeks now and it is over aggressive in it's detections and despite changing settings to ignore certain files and not to delete some that it sees as being malware, it still does so.

Paid £40 for this last year, (10 licenses) I get it every year and swear by it, as others have said, it is not intrusive, it always come top in the magazines. I had a bit of a misunderstanding with mine last year, very easy to contact them and they really helped.

Unless you use a Linux distro an anti-virus (a good one not crap like AVG) is needed that goes for Windows and Mac.

As a Barclays client I get KIS free yearly. It's by far the best AV out there, imo.

Don't forget you can have Sophos free for up to ten PC's at home.
Not entirely true, I haven't purchased an antivirus in years (and also don't use the free downloadables like AVG). Windows has it covered themselves with windows essentials and windows security. Never had a problem after getting rid of the additional antivirus, yet when I used to use Norton I got hacked :/ also nobody I know now use any purchasable antivirus. All seems a bit of a con.

Same here pricedroppin, used it on xp too no hacks. Occasionally I run SEARCH and destroy but it never finds anything anymore since using security essentials.

Just a side note - Kid-safe is awesome! Locks those pesky tablets and phones DOWN, no apps bypassing youtube protection etc. or going to 'nanas' and getting access to any content. Brilliant

Not that it will do you any good - unless you are a genuine Barclays' bank account holder. :disappointed:

Many thanks. Not with Barclay's, so no good to me.
No anti-virus/anti-malware is perfect. If you happen to get hit by something new then the AV isn't going to know about it and that's just bad luck.
By the way, how do you know that you don't have a problem with the Windows version? How do you know that there's no malware lurking? Even with Kaspersky running I still run an occasional scan with an alternative such as the free version of malwarebytes, just in case they missed something. Have you actually checked that you don't have any problems? The presence of malware isn't always obvious ...

Check the performance section: https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-7/august-2016/kaspersky-lab-internet-security-2017-163157/ - It beats the industry average on all metrics they list.
