Still stock in many shops, and probably a better option now that it seems the online ordering requires £20 top-up as it should take a while before the shops implement the increased to-ups.

Use the EE STORE FINDER and ring around to confirm price and availability of handset.
Several shops without stock have confirmed they would get new stock delivered on Friday, 4th November.

For those mentioning about the £8.99 charge for the unlocking, this cost usually comes out of the mobile top-up balance from EE PAYG phones, so even if you are charged, you will not have to spend any extras (as you've already that to pay for the £10 top-up). Obviously, that will leave a £1.01 balance on your SIM, which should not be a big deal since what most people will be interested in is the actual handset, not the £10 top up. Of course you will need to make sure your balance can cover the cost of the unlocking.

In spite of the thread from a few weeks back saying that EE should now be unlocking PAYG handsets for free, it seems as if the website is contradicting such information. Going through the unlocking online at myaccount.ee.co.uk the message seems to be that still costs £8.99. No big deal. Worst case scenario you use the top-up money for the unlock, best one, you get to keep the £10 balance and an unlocked handset.

No, hardly used it. Also just got another Black one upgraded with another old T-Mobile SIM (had credit 3p lol), and this time it’s for £120 (special offer – only £5 top-up required). I just wrote my number on a paper (both occasions), they don't ask anything.

eBay Tempered glass protectors for £0.99 UK Sellers - Option #1Option #2

I suggest you see a tutorial in Youtube before applying it This One in particular is good, and you can replace the stickers shown with regular cellotape. This technique will allow you to place the protector perfectly. To remove the manufacturers one easily, you can use cellotape to stick and pull from one of the corners.

I do still have that. I didn't realise there was a difference between screen protectors. Why on earth would they bother providing a bad protector for a screen that badly needs protecting!? Could someone tell me what I should be looking for?

I'm so disappointed, after having this for just a few weeks the screen is already all scratched. My moto g 1st gen will be 3 years old in December and is less scratched than this. Sure, this is much faster, but why couldn't they have done a better job on the screen?

Just to add my 2 pennies worth,,,, did the online form with EE waited a week , got fed up and rang them only to be told my online form had failed ??, so did it again on the phone........

Still nothing last night and was bored so looked at rooting my phone , after hours of searching and trying different ways I stumbled onto DC Unlocker (should of looked here lol), which as said was a bit fidly but unlocked my phone for £3.50 ,,,I then paid another £3.50 to get my bootlocker code as all the free ways failed....with that I then rooted the phone..

So pretty happy, phone unlocked , rooted and working fine for £7 , and as I got it when it was still £10 top up a result.

Also using nova launcher now ,,,,,looks good

Tips....

Switch phone to SD card storage straight away as you cant transfer for internal and SD card....

Dc Unlocker sometimes struggles to detect my phone , when phone is connected it defaults to charging only, switched to files and it seemed to help (pull down menu)

My unlock code came through as well. So just to reiterate, it is free and you do not have to wait 6 months. If the person you are speaking to says otherwise just speak to someone else (who can hopefully read).

The only issue I have now is that although EE's customer service is truly, truly awful, their 4G data speeds are annoyingly impressive. Unfortunately they are also really quite expensive. Does anyone know if Virgin's new 4G service is just as fast or do they basically just sell a slower version? I'm guessing it's like o2 and Giffgaff where Giffgaff is considerably slower. Anyone using Virgin 4G?

To anyone trying to get unlocked quickly. There is a step by step guide to doing this using DC Unlocker here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/huawei-p8-lite-79-vodafone-pyg-2436269#comments

Note, this is for the P8 Lite but the guide still works for the P9 Lite. When you check credit required it doesn't seem to show the P9 Lite (although it is elsewhere listed as a supported device). I just bought 4 - the same as required for the P9 - and it was sufficient.

Probably invalidated my warranty but better than dealing with EE customer service!

Yes...works well. See post higher up for links. Can only be done with Windows....not Mac...and make sure you install Huawei's HiSuite software first and connect phone so all necessary drivers are installed. Then buy 4 credits (4 Euro) from DC Unlocker...download the unlock programme and follow the instructions on the link on the post above. Leave about half an hour after you buy the credits before you unlock so the credit gets activated.

Hello, Thank you very much

I am slightly new to this.

- Can I ask was your version: VNS-L31C44B132

- Did you SIM card unlock it First? and THEN did Dual sim method?

- One last question please: on the link you gave, I must be blind but there are no direct instructions, I looked at the screenshot, I assume I download that program and from IT, I click dual sim and follow those instructions right?

Thank You

The guide I have linked to on XDA P9 Lite forum is quite straightforward, it took me about 30mins to complete it, after downloading all the files needed. As for warranty - I suppose if anything went wrong you could flash back the phone to single sim and then return it. I suspect you will be infringing the warranty as you have to unlock the bootloader, but it re-locks again after the stock rom is installed so that is no big deal.
As for difficulty, I would say it is a medium skill level. I have flashed phones and played with ROMs for a long time but I took my time, read the guide and everything went well.

for anyone still unsure about the 3GB's of RAM it actually looks like huawei only supply one version of the P9 Lite in the UK and that is the VNS-L31 which is the 3GB model. I found this out on the huawei uk support website as this is the only model number that comes up for the phone they have no other versions listed on the UK site and typing in the 2GB model (VNS-21) bring up no support page.

If anyone is still buying online, be sure to buy the pack you want when you order. I read (on their site) you could just buy credit and then switch to a pack later, turns out that's not true for their £10 and £15 data packs. Just spent 21 mins calling support during which the guy spent most of the time failing to put the pack on my system. He then suddenly claimed he did it but it turns out that was a complete lie.

He then tried to charge me £8.99 to unlock so I told him to read his own website. He then tried to tell me I had to be a customer for 6 months so I told him to reread that website. Then it was suddenly free. However I have no reason to believe he actually did it. Utterly useless.

I haven't got a case for my P9 Lite yet so can't really recommend one but I'll be ordering a SLEO Huawei P9 Lite Case.

I bought a black one of these for my previous phone (Galaxy S2) about 4 years ago, it was a perfect fit and feels and looks good, if the one for the P9 Lite is as good I'll be very happy.

They know the phone is selling well and probably that most who are buying it are unlocking it so put the top-up price up, I notice all their other pay as you go phones are still only £10 top-up.

Ordered mine online at the weekend. Delivered today. Can confirm it's the 3GB version. VNS L31. Called them on 0800 number and arranged free unlock which will take up to 10 days but normally quicker. The advisor activated my sim using the a £10 top up as a standard top up which means it won't expire after a month and will stay on the sim card. Sorted.

Thanks to OP and everyone's help ordered online earlier this evening for home delivery through TCB (possible £5.50 for SIM pack with the £10 top up but not counting on it). Received immediate call back. Out of stock , more expected in 7 days. Had interesting discussion about proof of id on delivery but after checking my order details looks like it won't be needed. Lucky as I don't have any photo id which they say can be required. A good upgrade to my much loved Y550. Cheers.

I usually get my PAYG phones on upgrade for Carphone Warehouse (unlocked/not customised), but this deal is very good. So with regard to carrier bloat on this phone from EE, does it run Huawei's stock rom possibly with a few EE apps that can be uninstalled/disabled or does it run a custom EE rom that would require flashing if you want stock? And if it is an EE custom rom is it possible to hide the EE branding?

It smashes the G2 in every way possible, the only downside is there's no radio on the P9 Lite:

http://gsmversus.com/huawei-p9-lite/lg-g2-lite/

If radio is no biggie, literally everything on this phone is an improvement over the G2. 4G, far superior screen, better CPU, more internal storage, more RAM, higher possible SD card capacity, newer Android version, far better camera (both photo and video), better connectivity options and better battery.

4 x contract handsets with EE, yet nothing but problems with this order.First of all i was assured by 2 x live chat operators that the P9 lite is the 3gb RAM version - i have saved these chat logs, this is the version i wanted and so i placed the order. I get an email saying my order will be delivered next working day.

Today i get an email saying to contact EE, but everything is ok. I contact EE and are told the payment has been declined, I give the same details again and the order is accepted. However, i am now told there is a 14 day wait for the phone and i may get a 2gb OR 3gb!

They also said that there is no cooling off period, so if they do send the 2gb version i cannot return it.

So spoke with EE on Twitter and they referred me back to their call centre and said they couldn't help!

good work. on that basis I'm voting this hot. £50 cheaper than anywhere else at the moment, and looks to be the best value phone around. I was looking at the honor 5c, but with 3gb ram and fingerprint sensor this wins. will need a tempered glass screen cover by the looks of it.

Aww I loved my Nexus 4. Are you on the latest update? I unlocked my bootloader and updated to the "then" latest update using Wugfresh's tool kit, it gave my N4 a new lease of life, battery life much better afterwards, worth a try?

EE have the stupidest of people working for them you ask them what the phone's model number is and they reply with the name of the CPU and then when i ask for it again they send me a link to the the gsmarena page which like i said to them is no good as it list 4 different model numbers as well as different specs for different models. How can a company not know which model of the phone they are selling :S. I have had the P9 Lite for a couple of months now bought from CPW sim free, it is a great phone.
The nougat ROM is currently in Beta and the bods over at XDA forum have got been trying to load it.
Mine was a VNS-L31 single sim, but I converted it to dual sim using the guide on XDA P9 lite forum.
The phones are built as DUAL SIM by default, but the software switches off the second sim card depending on location and markets. Follow the guide here :- Your text here

The camera is a Sony censor, it is pretty decent but the JPEG processing engine is a bit severe, installing Open Camera enables Camera 2.0 settings and enables you to save RAW files if you are into photo post post processing.

For the price it is a lot bang for buck.

I use NFC all the time, in conjunction with some cheap on NFC tags and Tasker. Leave home swiping a tag to switch wifi off, one tag in the car to switch Bluetooth on and connect on entry, switch Bluetooth off on leaving, a tag on the washing machine for a 1h timer so I don't forget to put the clothes in the dryer, a tag on the headboard to set the alarm for the morning etc etc. Android Pay and Oyster are the icing on the case. NFC has limitless possibilities but of course, you don't NEED it.

NFC is the kind of thing you don't realise you need until you actually get it. If I ever leave my wallet at home by accident I can still pay for things with Android Pay (which you need NFC for). It's handy as it gives you a notification every time you make a transaction so you can easily see how much you've spent in a day.

This p9 lite looks decent but not rlly world class, just seems like a standard 1080p
dean_brfc to DatAlbino

You're not going to get 'world class' for £140! I'm in the same boat as you, my G3 has given up.

I looked at a few Chinese phones for the same price - came down to Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 & Gigaset ME.

Specs are a little bit lower on this, but decided it's worth the trade off for quick delivery, warranty/manufacturer support, and availability of custom roms.

The Mi Mix you mentioned will be about £400 won't it? If your budget is more than mine have a look at Lenovo ZUK Z2.

This is an amazing deal.

I paid £150 for my honor 5c which is very similar other than having only 2gb ram and the build quality being a little worse, as this is essentially just a better version I can only imagine this is even better.

I'll list my main points about the Honor 5c :

Fast even when multitasking
Battery life is amazing lasts me 1-2 days even with watching videos for a 2-5 hours
Cameras are good
Screen is decent the sharpness is good but it suffers in dark scenes even with lowered brightness

Unless you want to listen to the radio and don't have a 3g/4g signal. Or you want to listen to something that isn't available online (for example most football commentaries on local radio).

Paid £199 sim free for this phone, for that price its a bargain. how easy is it to unlock as the wife is after a new phone?
bro631 to mrjackson90
29 Oct 16 1 #50
Buy it from ee and they will unlock it for free also speak to ee customer service for more details or if u cant. Wait theres few ebay sellers sell unlocking codes from £3-£5

Does anyone know if this phone is better than a Vodafone smart ultra 6?

29 Oct 16 #39
Yeah. Looks like it. Smaller display though.
bro631 to amyp88
29 Oct 16 #48
I say yes but the ultra 6 has slight bigger screen

Our of curiosity why would you want to deal with CPW? Surely that'd be far more painful than EE?

29 Oct 16 #44
seems to not have a gyroscope but still a good price if you do not use vr
jaydeeuk1
29 Oct 16 #42
Hows the camera on this? Will be upgrading the wife from her lumia 1020 to join the 21st century, which although slow and crap by todays standards the camera is still impressive. Is it as good as the nexus 5x I have?
chancooluk to jaydeeuk1
29 Oct 16 1 #43
The camera on the P9 Lite is about the same as the standard Moto G4 in my experience. It certainly isn't up there with the Nexus 5X, but it is adequate for most shots.

ee don't seems to always give the £9 quidco if you read the feedback on it

this post has better picture of the phone and gave more details of the deal and the phone and I think users on hukd seems to vote accordingly. Thanks for the original post .

Seems like there must be a catch, great spec for the price, hot from me. Curious why this would be voted cold?
litwoojczyznomoj to Yorkshirebloke

Typical hukd herd mentality. Once the deal catches cold the rest of the herd blindly follows.

can I buy this phone and then not top up and then put my Virgin SIM in it?
4Real2016 to Raylincs

No, you would need to get it unlocked, but its free and can be done straight away on PAYG.

Voted hot . Just ordered been trying to get this for a while. Missed what i was after this time last year with a Sony phone. Looked at this in store but prices have been hiked everywhere recently and cheapest has been Giff Gaff at £199. But they are out of stock.

btw if you are not sure I think there is a 14 day cooling period with EE

online or by phone yes, in store no, buy since they fetch more on eBay you could simply sell on

I nearly bought one of these, but was put off by most reviews about colour accuracy?

been waiting for a deal on this phone for about 2 months, gutted i missed the like new p9 with o2. ordered. thanks

MrMadeiraverde

Had the P9 Lite for a couple of months now, i owned the moto G before it (last years model) and a sony Z1 before that. This phone is fantastic and alot better than the old Moto, easily as good as the Z1 if not better. My other half got the P9 2 days ago and the difference between the lite and the full P9 are very small from me playing with it. Highly recommend this phone
litwoojczyznomoj
28 Oct 16 #14
I think it's down to individual taste.
Stock android vs Huaweis skin
Specs are very similar. Camera on both will perform well in good light and will suffer significantly in indoor/ poor light conditions. Cheapest version of g4 is not a dual sim, this one has a hybrid second slot. P9 has nfc , better pixel density + more handy size.
reggea86
28 Oct 16 1 #13
I bought it for £199 and for £129 is a real bargain! Wish this deal was on earlier :disappointed:(
samseng
28 Oct 16 #11
I bought a moto G4 for one member of the family and a P9 Lite for another and I will take the latter anytime. The G4 is a excellent phone for the price (especially when it was on sale) but it does feel like you get what you paid for (i.e. cheap) even though the specs are very good for the price. The P9 definitely performs better and feels more and punch above its weight of a £250 phone, so £129 for G4 or P9 (ignoring the top up), I know which is the better bargain and phone
