The collection includes the original Xbox 360 game, not the remaster.

Yes, I agree. Sorry if my post wasn't clear - I was agreeing with you that the Xbox 360 version of Gears of War 1 that comes from the codes *isn't* the Ultimate Edition.

Codes for all four 360 GoWs on eBay now for less than a tenner after it came bundled with Gears 4.
Presume GoW1 isn't the ultimate edition though.
