Not a bad price for a UK stocked RK3229 with 2Gb RAM.
Prefer the video quality offered by this new Rockchip SOC at the moment over the current AmLogic series but no TWRP or OpenElec LibreElec support and quite possibly a locked bootloader.
Note that the RK3299 has the Mali 400 and not the Mali 450 all too commonly advertised.

-Connect it to your Tv to stream BBCplayer, ITV player.
-If youre into not paying for movies, you can watch them using Kodi which by the looks of it comes preinstalled on the box.
- Browse the internet (you can connect wireless keyboard or mouse to navigate more easily)
- Install games from Google Play Store + connect a controller(s) and you have a poor man's gaming console
- You can install install console emulators and play some retro games
- Cast stuff from your phone to your TV wirelessly

rockchip doesn't work well with kodi, otherwise this is an amazing price.

That latest RKMC builds from Rockchip themselves does (At least with the RK3229 or other SOC firmwares that have been updated to support the RK Codec).
Both have the working Rockchip codec working well (finally).
For future Kodi builds it does appear that Rockchip will now be using the correct API procedure that will allow Kodi to run without the need for forks.

negative, I didn't fully understand how these work
Apart from the £6 in price, anyone know the difference between this and the X98 plus?

Hi jez
I bought this one...http://m.banggood.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Game-Controller-Handle-Joystick-for-Mobile-Phone-p-965526.html
It's nice and is often on offer through the linked site or gearbest etc. Even seen them on eBay.

I'm not an expert on these. This is the link to the ones I use. They work on most (not all of them, though)of the games with controller support that I tried. Read the instruction on how to pair them with your android box. When not in use , they turn off, which saves the batteries. Cant compare to other controllers but all the buttons seem responsive and work well. Some of the game menus' dont fully support the controllers and this is when the little touchpad thingy becomes useful - Its small but it does the job. My 5yo son uses the controller with ease. Friends' kids who use Xbox at home never complain about them when they visit us and play some games on my tv box.

hi mate, are you referring the banggood link in booboy2's message? (I can't see a link in your post)
Would this work better than the Amazon fire stick for kodi, not sure if I've got mine at up right but it can be a right pain in the backside sometimes.

Probably due to the low memory. This would be better.

There are useful boxes, basically simialr in use to an Android tablet, but in this case connected to TV and controlled by remote control. Doesnt have WIFI ac, so wifi speeds might not be great. If possible connect it directly to your Broadband router, using the LAN port. This is limited at 100mb, but that speed is sufficient for most uses. TV player, Movie Streaming , Browser etc

Isn't there some kind of second screen app that lets you use a smartphone as a keyboard/mouse?
Received mine yesterday (thanks to OP). Very impressed for the price, runs smoothly, plays video very well in Kodi, USB keyboard and mouse connected no problem and make it much more usable. The one thing I don't care for is the "smart tv style" home screen, but I imagine there are groovier ones out there. Amazing for the money, really.
