Just wondering what is X-2 like? I really liked X but never got to play X-2, is it worth buying this for that game?

This part from X sums up a lot of people's thoughts of X-2. Some people do like X-2 though, but in comparison to X, it's very... different. There's no unanimous answer to whether it's worth playing or not. It's up to yourself. Don't expect the same quality of game though. It feels more like a spin-off game with a different mood, rather than a continuation sequel.

That's pretty misleading. At release it was widely acclaimed it's still considered a great game by the majority of Final Fantasy and RPG fans in large part because it has one of the best battle systems in the series. The story of X is self contained and doesn't warrant any kind of epic sequel so yes the story is downplayed in X-2, but the gameplay and seeing more of the world is great. This is coming from someone that typically only plays RPGs for the story. The only real complaints it gets are from people that somehow couldn't get past the fact that you play as 3 girls with the only returning playable cast being Yuna and Rikku.
Unfortunately it's showing as out of stock at the moment.

I wasn't criticising X-2, I was comparing it to X and even said there's no unanimous answer and that it was their own choice so I don't see how that's misleading. Opinions vary. The rating in your link is a "score based on 72 reviews". At the bottom, there is a link for X-2's Metacritic page which has a user score of 6.8 based on 384 ratings. If you read though some user reviews you'll see it's not just down to them being unable to get past playing with 3 girls. A lot of them mention disappointment and having high expectations due to X. The person who I was replying to, has already played X hence my reply being comparisons to X. The main point I was putting across was... not to expect too much.
