For those of you with the willpower to hold out for the inevitable upcoming holiday deals there is a mod for doom 1 and 2 that lets you use the new weapons that is lots of fun.
5% discount if you use the facebook discount link as long as you are logged into your cdkeys account when you enter the voucher.

It is a shame that this died a death online so quickly. I was going to buy it for online play but was saddened to hear that it never caught on.

Yeah it's the single player campaign you buy this for. Should be some longevity with all the effort they are putting into snapmaps and community driven content. It's a shame there is no full on modding support. I guess when they release the source code down the line.
It's strange the season pass (which costs more than the game does at this point !) is for multiplayer content only! For multiplayer Overwatch is the best deal at 20 odd quid if you use an Argentinian account. So much fun and millions of players.

Anyone else actually really like the multiplayer (apart from the Demon rune's and those single use booster's) get such a Quake/Unreal vibe?

Only had a chance to play a few levels of the campaign but it definitely has an arena shooter feel to it with the movement and level design. Probably a little slow to compete with all out arena shooters though. Look forward to trying multiplayer out after I'm done with the campaign.
For anyone on the fence as everyone keeps saying the single player is well worth the price of entry alone.

£14.99 now (less with Facebook 5%). Just ordered it, but struggling to free up the 70+ gig it needs!
Also, there's the new free update that includes 'Arcade Mode'. Eurogamer is raving about it ("How a free update transforms a brief campaign into an endlessly enjoyable hobby.")

The arcade mode is indeed fantastic. I can see myself dropping in for quick try at beating my high score on my favourite levels for years to come. Perfect short time killer.
I did see in one article someone recommending the arcade mode as how you should first play the game. I personally really enjoyed exploring the levels and doing the challenges to upgrade my weapons. I will probably largely revisit in arcade mode though it's so much fun.
