The son of a guy i work with collects the Lego minifigs. He buys the small square display boxes from Wilkinsons. Like a glass photo frame but quite deep. You can fit 4 or 5 minifigs per box and they are £1.99 each. Group them into characters, or series, small piece of blue tack or glue a lego brick to the back and stand the minifig on the brick and display around the room. Looks really effective. May be able to get similar display boxes cheaper elsewhere, but worth a look.
