Because they're not legal from this month. Ok to use if you've already got one but the new safety standards want high back boosters for all ages

Not a true story I'm afraid. You're quoting from a hysterical paper that got it wrong.

These ones are fairly pointless in an accident. The high back booster gives multiple height options for the shoulder strap and gives a level of head, neck and torso protection in an accident. Some a lot more protection than others but all better than a booster cushion.
A booster cushion protects the driver from penalty points not the child in an accident.

Watch the crash test dummies demo on Youtube compare high back with these crud ones. High back protects, these booster seats are awful. The company CEO's that authorise these have no concience.They are UNSAFE! DON'T buy

Nothing like putting your child's safety in the hands of a carseat worth £2.50. Maybe ok just to make an 11 yr old a bit higher, but for a 4yr old. Useless and unsafe

COLD. These are dangerous. In a side impact crash the seat will slide everywhere causing the child to whiplash sideways and hit their head off the door, or a person sat in the middle. There are also other circs where the base will shift and cause injury.
Please, DO NOT skimp on car seats, side protection is absolutely necessary.

Correct. My local paper reported;
" Which? report that the new additions to the child car seats regulations should come into effect in December 2016, but will only apply to any new products appearing on the market.
Therefore, parents who have a booster seat now will still be able to use the seat without breaking any rules.
However, parents buying a booster seat next year should start to see that they're not approved for use with children under 125cm and 22kg. "
