Poundland are selling these rustic looking wooden 6 beer crates with rope handles. Quite solid and weighty. Bought 6 to make up male relations Xmas presents....now watching out for beer, ales or cider on special.....will make ideal cheap gifts with a bit of tinsel.

OP: How strong are these? Looks like the sides and bottom are quite thin wood and I'd assume machine stapled. Can see 6 smashed bottles on Christmas day!

I spotted similar beer crates in Poundland at Bishop Auckland but the quality was terrible (very thin wood, all broken in some way), it looks like the one in the photo is much, much better OP! Brilliant find. I'll keep an eye out. It looks like some stores have better ones than others

same as the ones I've seen in Hartlepool and middlesbrough they look very flimsy and some broke already, and I doubt you would actually fit bottles in them size wise and safety wise but good for display for a quid

But it dose look nice can always glue it or leave on solid ground and jus use as a display and not carry it

Item was stacked amongst Xmas deco and table runners and bits, wood is stapled, but still sturdy. Wouldn't carry bottles around in, but certainly sturdy enough to put 6 bottles of beer in and gift. Bottom quite thick wood....I d rather buy these, then 6 quid filling it up on booze bottles....than £8 for four beers in supermarket box which I did last year!

Haverfordwest store had box loads of these on Monday, they are very light and wood is thin, the bar in the middle I took out with no effort,it just slides out I wanted to see it more of a container than bottle carrier..great box for crafting it into something but wouldn't recommend it for bottles..heat from me though as it's a good buy for a quid.
