These were in Shoreham. It is one of their new purpose built stores and they were on a pallet at the end of an aisle.

I have heard from a reliable source that the tea bags and other food products supplied to these cheapo stores are of inferior quality and often imported, lacking quality control. There are often issues of tax avoidance too. Hence the very cheap prices and poor taste.
For this reason, I will be voting this cold for now. I am of course happy to change my vote if the OP is able to provide credible written evidence that these tea bags are made in the UK.
Now I can continue my trip to Waitrose in peace.
With kind regards.
I'll get my coat..

The tea bags were created and made in England according to their website.
If you do not like the quality of good in store then the simple answer would be to not shop their. The fact that you are suggesting that the stock is of lower quality and imported (most shops do) and suggesting that they avoid tax and asking for proof to the contrary is odd. I want to see written proof that they do use lower quality goods (taste is a matter of opinion) and that the tea bags are in fact manufactured outside of UK factories.

60 mile round trip to the nearest FarmFoods for me. Don't think I will bother for a 0.077p saving each. Thanks anyway.

Kinda cold! This deal is misleading the ones in my store state one cup on the package and was 440 teabags at 1kg for £3.99 so I would say OPs deal doesn't exist?
I want to warn people for wasted trip as they are the same weight and stated one cup on the packet

My local Lidl (Hanwell, west London) - the 'special offer' 1kg (440 tea bags) Typhoo bags were one cup. I had to examine the plastic bag carefully (seems to be a catering bag). Small print on the bags definitely stated 'one cup'. Could be a marketing con by Typhoo? Definitely 'one cup' this morning at Hanwell Lidl.

These were in our local. They are one cup tea bags. So I gave them a miss and bought the tetley pack instead at £3.49 50% extra free.
