Doesn't seem too bad. I was looking at buying the V6 and they have this for £144 delivered after discount with 1 year guarantee.

They have other Dyson's, all come with different guarantees.

Voucher code: CDYSON2016

Hope this helps someone.

THIS Amazon review points out the differences. They seem to have different power ratings for the direct-drive cleaner head.

Extract from review.....
"The difference among the Dyson v6 versions:
Standard - has a 20w motorhead attachment, this is the weakest of the series and a crevice tool
Animal - same motorhead attachment as the standard. In addition it has a mini motorhead for pets
Fluffy - has all the above and one additional soft brush attachment specifically designed for bare / hardwood floors
Clean - has all the above but a more powerful 35w direct-drive cleaner head - which replaces the standard 20w motorhead.
Absolute - has the mini pet tool as above, a more powerful 50w direct-drive than the Cleaner, and oddly, a very plain / simple attachment with silicon wipes for hardwood floors instead of soft brush attachment. In addition it has a Hepa filter at the motor exhaust - this also makes it a little heavier. All this will make the battery work a lot harder than the lower end versions".

Typical petulance. I'm sure a lot of those who voted remain will not be happy unless everything goes wrong and they can all say 'I told you so'.

Imagine if everyone acted this way. What if everyone who voted Labour refused to have anything to do with any business whose leader voted Tory, or vice-versa.

This isn't a post for or against Brexit, I'm just sick of many of the remainers who still take every opportunity to moan.

Thanks for the deal OP!!

Yes this happens in all V6's it's to protect the motor. what we do is just make sure when placing it on the edge do it carefully and the the motor stays on. The Hoover still sucks though even with the motor not running.

That's interesting as Dyson claim it is 50% quieter than previous models and the reviewers here noticed the difference saying the sound emitted was at a lower frequency:

I don't disagree that the price is difficult to justify though.

yes I think the max mode was on when I used it. After a full charge AND normal mode, I finally finished my car cleaning... I guess v6 is not very impressive as a car hoover

Anyone that has a V6 from this deal like me, does the brush bar stop whenever you go over the edge of a mat or similar? I know it's got protection to stop the motor getting damaged if the bar is clogged etc, but it happens quite a lot on mine.
Not sure if normal or faulty

Reports / tests show that the noise level on the v6 and v8 is the same, the difference is the heat is directed either side of the unit towards the back rather than direct out the back at the user. Whilst I am getting the V6 as the V8 I cannot justify the price, the better battery time is without doubt a good reason along with the better way to empty the waste.
I am sure give it time and a better battery will be released even for the v6
loop
7 Nov 16 #138
Did you have boost mode switched on? That shortens the battery life to about 5 mins. I tried one in John Lewis and didn't like how noisy it was, so waiting for a good deal on the V8 which is quieter and has a better battery.

Hi I got v6 last week, and I don't know if it is because refurbished I just find so frustrating that it ran out of battery so fast! a bit like you said not longer than 5 mins. I took it down for hovering my car, and have not even done backseat the battery is depleted! I am thinking returning it down, it is just too short, and charging took hours!

Also found a company that 3d prints tool organisers got one on order!

Received my absolute yesterday managed to get round the house on a quick clean on full power (4 Bedroom House) Run out in last bedroom but perfect for my use, As typically I`ll do the carpeted rooms with Miele 6220 and then use this on stairs and furniture.
Have ordered a Fluffy head also as our ground floor is mainly tiled, The included Hard Floor cleaner is ok but prefer the fluffy as its less likely to scratch

Yes true but if you are wanting the better version v6 you'd probably be best buying the v8 new with full warranty. Bigger bucket, double battery life, 150% more suction and all on interest free...no brainier in my opinion for £143 extra! All comes down to the cash though!

Ordered a V6 to replace my DC35 that is approaching 4 years old. Did a battery test and got 3min 55sec on full power rather than 6 mins . Approx Third battery loss on 4 year old battery with light usage. OK I suppose.

I'd ruled them out originally thinking you couldn't really have one as your only vac but having now spoken to someone that owns one I'm coming around to the idea, although I think I would want the Animal or Fluffy both of which work out more expensive than the 6 cylinder models.

If your aren't wanting a refurb model and wanting the V8, then VERY have it on offer @399. They have a voucher code for £30 off and then if you do by now pay later then you get another 10% back . So with topcashback it's £326 over 12 months (extra £49 to extend the warranty to 4 years) ! Much better than this deal in my eyes

Can anyone help me make up my mind please? Looking at:
DC28c £119.99
DC38 £124.00
DC19 £129.99 (discount doesn't apply)
DC28c musclehead £135.99
DC49 £143.99
DC39 £151.99

I've got a small one bed flat, vinyl floors through out, no carpet except 2 large coir mats, no pets.
I like the DC38 & DC49 because of their size but I'm slightly put off because the last small vac I brought drives me nuts, the 0.5L bin capacity is fine but the filter clogs something chronic so should I go for one of the full size ones instead?
I'm also a bit concerned about the carbon fibre turbine head on the DC49, is ok for vinyl floors?
And can anyone tell me if you can't detach the pipe after use for storage on any of them? I really wanted the DC26 City until I found out the pipe wasn't detachable.

The V6 Absolute does not include the fluffy rotating head.

However, it has a more powerful standard edge-to-edge "direct drive" rotating head, and also the only model with a post-motor filter.

Not all motorised heads can work with all V6 models, so buying another attachment (like the fluffy head) may not work with your V6 model.

I'll withhold my feelings on Brexit until we get that promoted £350m/week back
Bought DC19 full price (£129.99) a fortnite ago, pity. Delighted with hoover however.
Bought 2 more upon family request with 20% off each, so £259.98 came down to £207.99. £104 for a (practically) brand new Dyson with a 5 year warranty (use brain) is a bargain WORTH SHOUTING ABOUT!

ps - Nectar points came up as 259
TBC - tracked on 1st purchase for £1.43 - should give me a tidy (quieter) £2.86 profit

Our Miele is over a decade old and we get our bags from ebay. I'll be sad when it dies as that suction is not permitted now. It is great for carpet but for hardfloor and quick clean these dysons are handy.

Thanks OP - ordered my second one.

Ordered the first one about a month ago at full price (refurb). It's an incredible piece of kit but I get about 2/3 of the way through the house and it runs out and can't start charging due to overheating (it's smart enough to wait until it cools to start charging).

Having two means I can zip around with one in each hand - one with the brush roller end (which works well enough on hard surfaces and incredibly well on rugs), and the other with the corner end, and do the whole house without worrying about the battery running out!

I couldn't quite get myself to buy the second one when it was £179, but at £144 I'm feeling the vacuum-ninja vibe...

V6 model is really good. We have one of these (came with loads of accessories as a promotion at the time with a previous HUKD which brought the Dyson sales line to it's knees) and I have to say it was worth the purchase. Really impressed with it. Will buy the additional floor attachment a bit later as we use our normal dyson cylinder vacuum cleaner and the V6 for stairs, beds, curtains and occasional dust area. Not sure if I would use it as a complete replacement for a normal Dyson cylinder vacuum cleaner due to the battery life.

Someone posted that they didn't buy cause James Dyson voted for Brexit. Seriously? Who cares, if you ended up not buying stuff because of a business owner's decision not to stay in Europe then you will have multiple shopping challenges as some other major brands voted for Brexit. You might as well stay at home and never go out!

I've seen someone post Miele are better and my parents and siblings use Miele products and they are very good. I think it is down to personal taste as both Dyson and Miele are by far the best product out there for vacuuming.

don't hesitate, just get one. we've got a long haired cat and it gets all the hairs up, no problem at all. we've got a three bed semi and it does all the house on one charge. you won't often need the turbo boost, but it does lessen the operating time when in use because you're using more power. it's great, love mine.

This is doing my head it a bit...
Wanted the refurb V6 Total Clean but none available.

So if i go for the Fluffy (has the hard floor head), it means it has the motorised head with standard power, less than the total clean version.
But if i go for the Absolute for the more powerful motorised head, it means i don't get the hard floor fluffy head...
Animal or Flexi models don't come with either more powerful motorised head or the hard floor fluffy head

Im sure any would do really, but rather get the most suitable
Mainly for hard floors but stairs and landing carpeted
Lots of dog fur, which is the main reason i want one!

Really? Blood diamonds vs Brexit. That really equates doesn't it?

I don't think anyone can have an adult conversation if that is what you consider Brexit to be. If it is of any consolation, we all voted to stay; but none of us are so beat up about the result. The public voted and that is it for now. BTW, I have a non British passport.

I have a dyson DC 35 animal and whilst its handy, it lacks suction it really suffers trying to vacuum up fluff.....crumbs are fine. The opening for suction is rather small I have to clean the roller from hair every week and general blockages every other week. I have to fully dismantle to clean a few times.....Also the charger has failed and had to buy replacement... I have a Hetty I use without a bag and its great much stronger suction and cheaper than any dyson ever made!

While offshoring most jobs.. Haha. Dysons are junk anyway.. Cyclones clog within months. Second hand market is awash with serviced ones because they lose suction due to the clogged cyclones and need stripped down to be cleaned out. A job beyond most people
alexfn
1 Nov 16 #66
Dyson are junk. They are the only vacs that clog. Ironic dont you think? You wont find anyone in the industrial/ trade sector using a dyson. The reason bagged vacs perform better for longer and are only clogged when the bag is full. Put a new bag in and the vac is like brand new. A Dyson will need stripped down minimum once a year to unclog the cyclones.

Dysons are masters of marketing nothing more. Mr james Dyson is great at fixing things that arent broken..and over engineering them.

I honstly dont believe you have owned a miele if you think dyson are better.

Check out the avg teardown of the new dyson hairdryer performs like a 15 quid hairdryer costs over 20x the price.

Keep sucking up the marketing

It's so depressing coming on here after moving to New Zealand. This Vac on the picture, I'd have to purchase for $550~ whereas this is roughly $230. If I could just ship everything ever without issue, that'd be great.
jayjayuk1234
1 Nov 16 1 #64
The warranty card is irrelevant you can register any Dyson product for a warranty any time you like, the main issue is when you try to claim on the warranty and they will require proof of delivery/purchase from a recognised retailer. Otherwise the repair is chargeable

As long as you have that, then you're fine, if it's a refurb (or sold as a refurb) it's unlikely to be 2 years though

So, was it a Dyson you bought, or a Hoover?

Having worked for the dyson and reviewing thei nternal figures on performance I can say that most of dysons cleaners are not worth the 4-5x retail price of its nearest rival (pretty much anything other than vax) but if you get a good deal on the full size its worth a punt - handheld wise the limitation is the bin size - its ok for a quick clean but anyone with a house bigger than one you find in japan is going to find it tough using this for their main cleaner

I'll never understand why people keep buying Dyson, I got one of their top Hoovers from a few years ago and it sucked. It had no power, I sent it back got a replacement and it was the same, just no power and the design sucked, all these angles and bits getting in the way and plastic breaking. The person who said bagless was good is an idiot, it just leaves you with a plastic tub of dust and crap, you still have to put it somewhere... a bag which now are harder to come by since the 5p charge. I found people are Lazy so they empty the contents directly in the bin, for it all to get stuck in there and make everything dusty....

I remembered when I lived with my Mum, we had a Miele Hoover and it was great, I bought one for myself, it has so much more power it picks up everything. The Dyson even with the Pet head failed to pick up hair from my St Bernard and Clumber Spaniel, The Miele just picks up everything and yeah you need Bags, but ordering a new pack of bags once every few months isn't hard... "I'm down to my last bag, I better go on Amazon and order a new box". Then you just throw the bag in the bin, no **** emptying a dust plastic box into your own bag and chocking on it in the process.

I cannot imagine how bad the batter ones are, up to 20 mins run time means 10 mins in the real world, 6 of those mins at full power, it'll struggle to pick up anything and then it goes on charge... just for the battery to be shot in 2 years.

Thanks OP. Just bought the V6 Animal

31 Oct 16 #51
I use one for a 3 bed house (the cordless dc44 so the v6 is next model up) and I really like it. It's light and easy to move around and gets under radiators unlike bulky vacuums. Yes, it only lasts a short time on max power but I don't often use max power- only when there's stubborn fluff on one of the thicker carpets. They can just sit charging in the docking station - mine's in the understairs cupbaord. It won't overcharge and their after sales service has been really good.

Think I am going to go with the V6 - question is, is the £30 odd extra for the Animal version worth it or is it just a gimmik for an extra bit of kit that I'm going to end up not using. I do have 2 dogs

we got the total clean v6,
don't really use the fluffy head tho,
the direct drive head is much better than normal head you get with base model

Can you use the v6 while plugged in or it only works from internal battery charge. Thinking about different v6 models. Is the 'standard' 20w any good on carpets or should I consider the clean 35w or absolute 50w?

There's actually a bit of a movement going on to create a list of retailers/manufacturers to avoid. So yes, individually it'll have little effect...but collectively, it'll do some damage. But more importantly, I don't want to support any of those scurrilous tw@'s that sold this country down the river.

ive got a dc34 without any extensions etc... in my house ive got hard floors and carpet... should i just buy the attachments or get a v6?

dannyjones106 to cigbunt
31 Oct 16 #27
You can't use the powered floor head with a dc34 as it doesn't have the power connection. the pipe will fit, but that's it. v6 also has a lot more power, softer trigger and slightly longer run time I think.

anybody know how these compare to gtech models?
dannyjones106 to gemz1269

Gtech air ram is a glorified carper sweeper. it will pick up surface dirt, but won't clean as deeply as a dyson cordless.

Thanks for the heads up, I've been looking for a Dyson for a while now.

I live in a two bedroom flat, own one short haired cat and can't decide whether to get the V6 Animal, the DC39 Animal, the DC49 Cinetic Animal or the DC50 Animal upright.

I can't seem to find anything that compares them properly. As I only have a small flat with two carpeted rooms, I don't see the point in spending over the odds on a large machine designed for a huge house. However, the reviews of the V6 animal don't fill me with confidence (6mins charge on max suction, 20 on a lower setting).

Any Dyson connoisseurs or owners wish to give me their two cents?

Fair enough, you have identified a good point. I think the likes of Miele are so established now here, you won't have any issue getting the bags at Argos, Amazon or where ever. I suppose there is a trade of, over the quality of the vacuum of floors against running costs of bagless/bag hoovers.

31 Oct 16 1 #15
Thanks for that, still not sure which to go for!
Mainly hard floors so i guess the fluffy would do

So just to check, the heads are actually motor powered then, not just powered by the suction air flow like some vacuums

Has anybody else found that the dyson handhelds don't pull the pile up on the carpet? Brilliant for the dirt but carpet ends up completing compressed!

31 Oct 16 #11
Can anyone advise, is it worth the extra for the absolute and fluffy models?
noahsdad
31 Oct 16 1 #8
Dyson 'sucks' in comparison to Miele. The Miele is just more practical, modern and powerful. Better value to go with Miele. People are just buying the familiar Dyson name most of the time.
Rimi to noahsdad
31 Oct 16 1 #9
Had both. Dyson is clear winner here. Nothing more to say.

I don't think the Miele vacuums are bagless, or are they? I just don't want to go back to the days that I need to shop in order to vacuum, and then one fine day you can't find the bags anywhere as your model even tough it still works perfectly well is no longer supported :disappointed:

great price, these Dyson cordless models (specially V6 / DC59) are excellent and best in business.
I won't say the same thing about their regular / cylinder cleaners as other brands are as good/better and usually cheaper (ex Samsung,LG,etc) but for cordless Dyson is the best.
