I have a 16-25 railcard. It can be used before 10 am (including journeys into London), but a minimum (discounted) fare applies during term-time of £12 before 10 am. The train fares are so expensive that my discounted fare is over £14, so the card pays for itself in a week.
For those travelling in London, the 16-25 railcard can also be added to any Oyster card to give a 1/3rd off off-peak tube fares.

16-25 is a bit of a let down - my child uses it to get to college. Min fare £12 and she saves about 20p a return journey. Only take 1 year to make the £25 i paid for the rail card.........

Does not work on all railcards as claimed. You can not get discount on 3 year disabled person card. If I wanted to purchase the 1 year version, SPOILME code was verified. There is the possibility of £2.83 cashback with TCB but that's only roughly a third of the 15% discount if it had worked.
I also had terrible problems trying to upload evidence of benefit. My file was only 419kb jpeg yet it kept telling me I could only upload 4mb at a time. The only way to fix this is to keep pressing the back button till you reach the first page and you can delete the whole application and start again.
I think I'll just save my pennies and use my bus pass instead.

Yes was really pleased at getting one of these for my son to go to college only to find that b4 10 am they charge you £12! My son has to travel to Blackburn for college its over 8 miles away but the fare is only £5.10 return the cheapest fare as have tried the buy singles route but it doesnt work. Railcard only effects those travelling to large cities eg Manchester or London so its a waste of time and money DON'T BOTHER with the 16~25 card its not worth the money when they put so many stipulations on it who came up with the rules after 10 when everyone needs to be in work school or college at 9am WASTE OF £30!!!!!

Wouldn't it be simpler, just to have all railcards with the same set of rules. We have bought the 'two together' but just found out it can't be used before 9.30 am after buying the tickets. My own fault really, should have read the small print so in my case, didn't get the third off.
pibpob to stokerej
9 Oct 16#25
Well they could have more similar rules but you'd never expect the Two Together to work at peak times or commuters would use it. The other gotcha with it is that if one passenger can't travel, the other one can't either, even though it would have cost them more than the individual fare!

Wouldn't it be simpler not to have to buy these stupid railcards and just be given a decent fare when you showed up at the train station!

No, got most of my points from TCB points conversion. Example, £30 cashback from energy switch converted to over 3000pts and I never spend over the odds just to get points.

Except Tesco Rewards are not real money - you might have spent over the odds on goods from Tesco in order to get them in the first place.

Are you saying that all commuting is done well before 9.30? That's not the case - many people don't work strictly 9-5.

You don't have to be married or partnered to use a Two Together card - you just have to have a friend...
If you qualify, it will show on your TCB dashboard.

Depends on which card you have, and where you are. With the Senior or Friends & Family cards that restriction only applies in London and the South East, anywhere else you can travel anytime.

Maybe consider a season ticket, you can get them from between a week to a year.
You can get it so it expires at the end of term as well so you don't have to pay when it's holidays
