simply put this is an awful tent based solely on the linked groundsheet. it is such a fundamental flaw it's baffling that it was given the green light past the design stage. as soon as the tent is up the bugs are in and then they stay in and increase in numbers. leaving it pointless to even try and sit down for food in the porch/seating area. there is also the risk of flooding as the water can just run straight through at ground level. I am an experienced camper and would venture to the Mourne's, torr head, Murlough bay, ballintoy, knocklayde, Ben Nevis in my terra nova which is a fantastic tent. I wanted something for the family and this arrived. this is not a tent. a tent is meant to keep you sheltered from the elements. this tent can't even keep out an ant. avoid and look at the euro hike or the gelert 6 which offer a fully sealed groundsheet, bigger bedrooms and 5000mm h/h.

For £117 i dont think you can go wrong .People mention a sewn in ground sheet is a must to stop bugs etc...Well they still going to get in the same way you do ,through the big massive door. The nearest rival with a shelter and sewn in ground sheet is the Vango calder 500 £199

Put the tent up this weekend, fairly solid and good materials.
For those wondering about the linked in ground sheet, the fly sheet has a skirt (6 inches or so) which underlaps the linked in groundsheet, so you cannot see the grass.
I bought the footprint ground sheet, put that down then pitched the tent on top, took less than 30 mins to put up, it will be quicker next time.
I must say I'm quite impressed given the price.

lack of a sown in ground sheet is not a design flaw. sure, it's a cost saving, and it's not as good, but it's a cheap tent.
millions of tents over the years have only had flat groundsheets like this one. Then the sleeping pods have their own sown in sheets. That was pretty standard up to a few years ago.

in a few years time people will be laughing at steel or fibre glass poles on cheaper tents compared to airbeams, just like people look at old frame tents now.

old canvas frame tents never have a built in groundsheet.

just to clarify my comments are aimed at highlighting the defective design of this tent. yes as far as pricing goes this is the cheapest i have seen it. I paid £149 for my vango 500sc which I returned. I bought the gelert horizon 6 directly from gelerts website for £155. this is no longer in stock anymore after a quick Google. however the gelert horizon 4 is for £143

. when I was in ultimate outdoors in Dudley I noticed the euro hike Buckingham elite 6 man for £160. the reason I did not link these deals are obvious. yes the price is a good bit higher but I personally was happy to pay that extra for a a tent that that is fit for purpose. the vango 500sc is not fit for purpose IMO. hope that clarifies things and apologies for any confusion.

Frustratingly, I agree with the comments about the linked groundsheet but this has a 4000mm HH rating?!!

Edit: specs does say "full mesh door on front and linked-in PE groundsheet in living area" so maybe not linked in sleeping area...? Unclear from pics.

This deal is based upon a 5 man tent with hh4000, it also clearly states linked in ground sheet.
This is a bargain price for a solid tent with good specs, obviously if you spend alot more I would expect more, that doesn't make this a bad deal.

Has Vango improved as before there kit was cheap & nasty

Used this tent several times now in our british summer! easy to put up and put away. This has been through pouring rain and high winds and still stood up and fully waterproof, i just rolled the awning up in very high winds. Great value for the money and quite spacious. Hot from me x

Bacto, also if you want a front awning then likely better off with tent without the sun canopy.

Backto, if you want an extension , I believe the Woburn and Calder have the same footprint, so look at whats available
