*** UPDATE: seems they've reduced the price even further. £2.22 including VAT now
Before anything, try to answer the following questions and if the answer to all of these are YES then this deal might be for you, if not this is certainly not for you!
- Is your parcel weighting less than 1kg and has regular dimensions for a parcel of that weight?
- Are you sending something invaluable that you would have sent with Royal Mail second class none tracked service anyway?
- Are you not a Hermes hater?
OK, then in this case Parcel2go is offering a low price for parcels weighting less than 1kg that do not require insurance sent by Hermes 48 hours/drop off service! The price is cheaper than what Hermes is offering themselves and I am not sure if there is any code to take this lower or not?

Whether there sending 2kg or not, this gets lost or damaged using this service you've basically put your parcel in the bin
You may be right about certain people will use this service, but the deal isn't made clear that there is no insurance/cover for your item

You still have up to £20 coverage on standard 2nd/1st class. I have had to claim a few times in the past and always had it honoured. They do take a long time to respond compared to couriers (Typically up to 30 days) but if you are patient (and persistent if necessary) you can always get your money back (so long as it's not more than £20).
Maybe if you are selling stuff worth £5 or less this deal would be ok though I wouldn't personally risk much more than that for literally zero insurance.

Any parcel can get lost or damaged when sent with any courier! Please have some logic! This service is good IF you are sending something e.g worth less than £20 that you would have sent via RM second class untracked service anyway! At least this way you are tracking your parcel!

Never said that any other courier wouldn't/couldn't lose or damage your item, the point I've made is you're saving 36p to have no cover if it's lost or damaged. Was making it clear to people as the description doesn't state any of it.
May be for some people, was just making it clear to any considering it that there is no cover with this service.

I specifically put a description to knock off such arguments or debates as it is always like this when a post is made from Hermes! Yes they are not the best but they are not the worst too. Poundland is not a place to buy quality stuff but still you can find stuff being sold there that fullfill your needs. This deal is handy if: you don't need insurance, you have a car or drop off shop nearby, you want tracking number, you want to save 36p, you can trust Hermes .... Hope this is clear now.

Hermes are OK 99% of the time, but for the wee bit extra the insurance is well worth it.
I was expecting a delivery from Amazon, got home found a card through door stating the item (worth £40) had been put in trailer.
I do not have a trailer but my neighbour (Good Guy) does, still no sign of parcel, when questioned by his manager the delivery driver stated that he had received a signature for the item and the company sent me a copy of an illegible scrawl. You dont need a high IQ to suss out that the delivery driver was at it, the delivery company covered the cost of the claim.
Few days later another delivery from Amazon (£70 Hard Drive) was left in my wheelie bin, luckily it wasn't a collection day.

Good deal, Hermes are actually very good in my experience.
Surprised you have had bad experience with Royal Mail claims, even for un-recorded items, provided you have the receipt and some form of validation of what you sent (eg. an ebay listing & non-receipt messages from buyer) then RM are usually very good about reimbursing.

It was not a sale item mate. It was a present (clothing) which I sent to a relative which was not delivered and I could not claim anything back. I tried to claim it online via the form they provided. However in another case where the item was posted via Special Delivery and was delivered outside the time-frame provided, they refunded me for the price of the delivery only.
My problem with my hermes is filling up the form and printing it out. Apart of that, they're ok

Ah okay fair enough. That's pretty bad the special delivery one, especially if it was a time sensitive item like concert tickets or whatever that would be very annoying. Of course I bet in their T&C's says 'not liable for loss caused as a result of this service..etc etc' same old story!

Not quite sure how this got so hot. MyHermes don't offer this exact service. I really don't see what the point of tracking is when you can't claim compensation. I'll stick with MyHermes direct and get tracking, £25 of compensation (not £20) for £2.75.

Avoid parcel2go and use ones with contact numbers who are willing to help you out and find your parcel when things go wrong.

Still has limited use, especially on eBay, where it is the only form of proof they will accept in the case of a dispute. E.g. if a buyer claimed an item wasn't delivered but you had tracking to show it was, you would probably win the case, I had this happen to me (as seller) and providing the tracking got the case closed in my favour....

Quite often the couriers won't collect on the day requested if they are not in the area/too busy etc people always complain about that to them on Facebook, but I've only ever had one parcel get delayed when dropping off at the shop.
I use them every week and prefer them to RM.
DannyBoy99
19 Sep 16#46
Nice to have this as an option if you're sending something with no intrinsic value (paper documents for example), but unless you're sending in bulk there's no much saving to be had here.
For me as an eBay user (as I suspect most Hermes customers are) there are very few times I would rarely (if ever) send anything that had little or no value - it's not worth the hassle of listing and posting it in the first place. Plus the postage cost is borne by the buyer anyway, and a 36p difference is not likely to put buyers off.
Also, this is not really a deal in my book. You're not getting something for less than you'd normally pay, you're buying a lower quality of service than you would normally get for the standard price, so that should be cheaper! I prefer not to use Parcel2go for this very reason; they make out that they're cheaper than buying a service direct from Hermes, but often they've simply reduced the coverage or service levels to get a lower price.

As a regular user of them until recently, they are awful. Book parcels to be collected, they turn up 4 days late. Be very weary of this company, Hermes handle them differently, they are sent using lower priority and the delivery drivers know this, lots more go missing than sending directly, that's why they offer no insurance. Parcel 2 go are also known to fake reviews on trust pilot and fob customers off. They have no contact telephone.... For a reason!! You have been warned!

I never make out of context comments on any forum. But my emotions for Hermes is so strong that I can't hold myself back.
Hermes IS the worst courier company on this planet. How they can be allowed to operate is beyond me but if there was a simple way to shut them down then I would happily do it. I have been a sender and I have been a receiver and both times there was one thing in common - absolutely no regard for me as a customer.
As a sender a few times, I was helplessly bashed by my customer due to Hermes bad service and got bad reviews from them (no fault of my own! all of Hermes' fault); as a receiver I have bashed the sender for using Hermes, and given them bad reviews .. and I have wasted several days of my life and work schedule waiting for items that were worth 10-20 quid. Last time the tracking said the driver to deliver the parcel about 5 times - yet I never had a 'missed delivery' card. Finally on a friday I did get one. The driver had written his mobile number as 7 digits (when they are meant to be 11 digits); he said he would deliver the next day (Saturday) on the card. I stayed in ALL saturday till 7:30pm waiting for this idiot to turn up; then again was told will be delivered on Monday by customer service chat (there is no real phone number to call) - didn't turn up on Monday; then finally someone came on Tuesday to deliver (when I questioned him about my wasted time on Sat/Mon -> he said he has no idea as he only works on tuesday - yeah right!)
Now I explicitly ask sellers if they are using Hermes, and if they are then I don't buy from them. A 0.4/10 rating for hermes europe on trustpilot is WAYYYY too high. Why don't they allow negative ratings on these review websites?!?
Please avoid using Hermes.

20 Sep 16#81
Why? Where did you read it's essential to provide insurance with tracked items? Insurance could be for claiming loss done by damaging the goods too not always for lost parcels. In fact this way you have peace of mind your item was delivered.
mixmixi
20 Sep 161#82
No mate, you don't need to top up. You can just pay with PayPal or card.
I wouldn't touch Hermes, especially via Parcel2Go. If the parcel goes missing Hermes will not talk to you because it was booked through a 3rd party, and Parcel2Go have limited communication options.
I learnt this the hard way after they "lost" a massive parcel. Never to be seen again. And i had to refund the person who bought the item from me. Hermes would not speak to me. Parcel2Go were powerless. There was absolutely no way to speak to the depot involved, or get any other information about where the parcel was.
I would sincerely hope that Hermes goes out of business because they are by far the worst courier company out there. People only use them because they're cheap.
