Just spotted this on a Lidl online leaflet although this came in store last Sunday (3rd Sept) i believe. From what people have said about these Powerfix tools they are supposedly pretty decent quality. Thinking of buying these myself so any comments would be gratefully received. I thought they might be worth a go for £6.99. Online description below.

I have to say I have had lidl screwdrivers for years and find them great value for money . As for the insulated shafts business , I never quite understood what this is all about . I never undertake any electrical work without switching the power off in the first place . Never been electrocuted yet . This is quite a topic of debate in our family

disagree on the quality - had mine for about 3 years now, and been used fairly regularly on jobs around the house and all still in excellent condition. well worth £7.

I only open the bonnet of the car to fill up the washer bottle and if there was anything involving working live indoors I'd be getting a sparky in . Thanks for that but I still reckon my brother in law won't believe us

It's not unknown to work live, (in which case insulated shafts are really rather handy) but I wouldn't expect the average live worker to be buying their tools from Lidl. But working live doesn't only apply to mains voltage, if you were working on a car without the battery disconnected you're potentially still working live. The insulated shaft can protect against short circuits so will provide protection for what you're working on, not just you.

I've had a set for a few years for doing car servicing and the odd bit of DIY. Nothing has broken, they feel pretty good quality, handle grips are pretty solid feeling, don't feel cheap at all. Though the Philips heads have worn slightly on a couple.
These aren't tools up to being used day in day out, and they aren't tools for life but they're only £6.99

Not very good quality. They don't have insulated shafts so definitely no good for electrical work. OK for non electrical we jobs about the house.
