Best price I could find at the moment.

Amazon appear to have price matched Tesco Direct price. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/new-ps4-camera-preorder-39-amazon-2518826

It's the same camera as the original, just a new design for the body.

This camera releases on October 13, 2016, the same day as the VR.

i think there's a fair number of us. I have a camera. it came with my launch day ps4 bundle.

Then there are all the people who use them for streaming.

Sony have a psvr bundle in the US so I'm surprised they haven't announced anything over here.

I wonder how many people already have the camera? Can't see that there was much use for it because there wasn't really a lot of stuff that required it. Even with the PS3 a lot of people might have already bought the PS3 Eye for Move or some of the AR Games but with PS4 Move support was practically non-existent until PSVR came along and I don't think there was much (if any) in the way of AR titles.

It would make sense to offer an all-in-one pack option rather than have people plugging their PSVR in only to find that they also need a camera (and maybe a move controller too to get the best experience).

But excluding camera and move keeps the headline price lower, which I suspect is the main reason.

Anyone who is that worried about it simply should not buy it at all. But if you're going to go through the trouble of covering it in tape when you're not using it, just save yourself the trouble and simply unplug it, save electricity that way too. Plus now you can put it in a lead box just to be sure.

Yep I did, I also got one with my 20th Anniversary PS4 too. But yes they were/are overpriced for the support that they received. Admittedly PlayRoom is actually pretty good fun, but other than that uses are pretty limited to streaming, Singstar and Just Dance really from what I've seen.

There doesn't need to be a 'why' - leaving a camera in your house, typically pointed at you, connected to the internet is always going to be bad for your privacy. The head of the FBI certainly knows that:

https://thehackernews.com/2016/04/tape-webcam.html

And there are plenty of people who are going to hack internet connected cameras simply because they can:

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/nov/20/webcam-hackers-watching-you-watchdog-warns

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22967622

If you don't value your personal privacy then fine, but don't give dumb ill-informed advice to others.

There are a lot of perverts out there that buy hacked cameras that are "guaranteed" to have a lot of airtime of your daughters/sisters/wife/mother/son. Always a good idea to cover webcams and probably these Playstation camera's as well.

I played this at EGX last weekend, got to try Rigs which is fast paced and Windlands a game where you swing around floating platforms like spiderman.
Apart from a weird feeling during the first 5 seconds when I started moving I quickly got used to it and had great fun with it.
Not everyone is going to be the same, some people can't watch 3D, some can sit all day and watch it, just becuase you feel sick playing VR doesn't mean everyone will, it is something you probably need to try before you buy though just to see how you fare with it.

'Reasonable' price considering people still want £30-40 for the old one on eBay.. Had already ordered so happy with the £6 drop.

Can't say the same for the new 2 x Move controller pack though.. £69.99 and as far as I can see no major difference from the PS3 move controllers. Have managed to pick 3 up + a navigation controller on Gumtree for less than £15.

Nope. They are the exact same camera so you are fine. This one just has a new look to it from the outside.

I only needed one controller so bought mine from GAME for £18. :disappointed: Prices seem to just keep going up and I would have gotten it sooner only wasn't sure if I was defo getting it. Each to their own but I think purchasing the PSVR is absolute madness at the price. The camera is worth it for PlayStation Move though. The move really is good. With PSVR you will need the PS4 pro to have anywhere near stable frame rates, yes Sony may interpolate the fps on regular PS4 but as with watching movies I turn that stuff off because those false frames makes me feel dizzy. I would say buy the PS4 pro but I can't because Sony are marketing it as a 4K machine when it isn't and it doesn't even have a UHD player, what a joke. Even the Xbox one s has a UHD player and I own both consoles and prefer the PS4 interface and gaming experience to XBOX but what Sony is doing with the pro (apple much?) I would say wait and see what Nintendo have to offer.
BubaMan
27 Sep 16 #51
Just because it's possible with pre-release software doesn't mean that finished games will run well on it... or that Sony won't take the opportunity to force us into upgrading the PS4 if they think that there's enough interest to get away with it.
I hope you're right but this wouldn't be the 1st time that Sony made an illogical hardware decision, based on profit (and sealed the fate of the hardware).

I was at EGX yesterday and every psvr was on standard ps4. I tried battlezone and rigs and they both looked brilliant. I've pre-ordered with a couple of companies to try and make sure I get one now. As for feeling sick, I had vertigo in Rigs for a second and then I got used to it. If you can try before you buy.

Utter madness.
Looking forward to the 13th to hear all the complaints about sickness though.
Are people even that aware that you have to take it very easy with VR to avoid nausea?
Have Sony rated the games for comfort? Had my Oculus for about a week now and some games can make you feel very sick. So do be careful.
Voted hot for the price.

Got rid of my Oculus as it feels like the technology isn't quite there yet. Never experience any kind of motion sickness before but the Oculus is VERY dangerous and induces it after only a short game. Also the lenses get condensation quickly too. Overall it's a lot of money for a beta. I'm waiting on VR until it's much more advanced.

I suspect you are in the minority then since it has less than stellar support when it came out.

Did anyone actually buy it as a separate unit apart form it those who got it from being bundled with the PS4 on launch, the SKU with two controllers, Shadowfall and a camera?

Of course it still early days and you do have to take it easy at first. Not had any condensation issues myself.I would not say the Oculus is dangerous , did you get a constant 90fps? If not that could have been the cause. I get terrible motion sickness in real life as well so I know to ease myself in.
However the experience itself is amazing. I have been blown away by my experience so far and am very much looking forward to the touch controllers.
Playing Adr1ft is like being in the movie Gravity. VR adds emotion to your gaming experience.

Like most, I will hold fire until hearing more feedback. The DK1 of the Oculus Rift made me sick as a dog and I don't want to pay £400 for the same sensation.
mranderson1971
26 Sep 16 #28
Motion sickness does not work like that. also you have to take into consideration frame rates as well.
Constant 90 fps is recommended to match refresh rate for Oculus for example.
Also in first person using a gamepad to move and yet standing ( sitting) still can induce nausea. Unless they introduce a treadmill how can you compensate for that?
Sitting in a vehicle helps to reduce it but if you are hurtling around in a dogfight looking around in all directions you cannot avoid it.
My advice would be to take it easy and don't try and fight through it.
The brand has nothing to do with it and Oculus probably have the most experience of all the VR manufacturers at the moment.
Software in the Oculus store has a comfort rating so hopefully Sony will do that.
Wait until you first take off in Eve Valkyrie you really feel the motion.
Also set your IPD.

Had a amazon preorder since March but cancelled last night. Too many question marks for me. Mainly over comfort in sitting and/or standing? Cables? The timing and abilities of the PS4 Pro? A new lower latency camera?

No doubt a very exciting experience but made very messy by Sony. Ive always been on PS and XB but this is possibly going to be gimmick of the year

Sickness in VR is more to do with motion, and it does depend on the person.
Try In Cell or Adr1ft . Taking off in Eve Valkyrie also makes me feel slight nausea. Even Lucky's Tale can cause some motion sickness.
Moving within a room environment is unlikely to cause much sickness.
