So I'm the only one finding doling out pills to a 3 month old baby slightly disturbing then.....Cos I'm really sure they can accurately tell you what the pain is, and everything.

It's a liquid, supposed to be used to help relieve the discomfort associated with fever and pain relief in general.
Of course when there isn't a fever, they can't tell you they're in pain so I'm sure there is the temptation to give it particularly when other reasons are ruled out as I doubt many would want their child to be in pain or discomfort unnecessarily.
