NPower have been offering Nest at a reduced price for their customers for ages but the 3rd Gen has now been offered at £129!
Considering that the going rate is a few coppers shy of £200 and Amazon occasionally drops the price to around £185, this has got to be the cheapest..... Discuss....

There's plenty of idiotic people on this site that vote based on whether or not they like products or based on their own opinion on what they should be sold at but this wasn't one of them. Quite the opposite I thought, offering a valid opinion as an owner and confirming the price was good. He has also helped confirm my thoughts that I don't really need it even at this price so in turn saved me some money!

Just tried this with my closed account. I either get the page cannot be found page or just an image of the Nest. Basket is showing empty so they have fixed this now. Shame. Good effort though!

indeed - they can barely get an electricity bill right, so i'm hoping the same professionalism extends to their online shopping arm

i just tried this with a closed account  get a page cannot be found when trying to add to basket, so not working for me
EDIT - hold on, got to the checkout page. However, the t+c's suggest if you aren't a customer then its 199, which suggests they might charge 129 to start with then try to add the 70. Surely though DSR applies, so you could cancel within 14 days if they up the price?

One per customer. Not too surprising I suppose because they go for more than this on ebay... I'm in the same situation would have bought two if I could but have just left a standard thermostat in one zone. Might get a second nest in the future but not a priority for me.
Maybe find sombody else on npower who doesn't want a nest and get them to order one for you?

I have zones in my house. Anyone know if I can buy 2 or 3 from them at this price?

If you wish to reduce your consumption and you don't go down the zoning route (via Honeywell Evohome or the several alternatives) then I think you are just playing at it TBH.
PS Agreed about npower, terrible supplier.

zoning could be significant investment depending on your existing plumbing. the reason nest was successful was that they came up with low cost alternative to a complex problem. I "genuinely" think all new builds should do zoned i installation but for existing homes Nest can show real savings.

Is anyone knows, can it be used abroad with combi boiler? thanks

the uk version has a heat-link which has 240v relay contacts. The US version doesn't come with heat-link and the thermostat directly controls the boiler via low voltage (not sure exactly how much but I guess it's DC).
it depends on your boiler and associated regulations abroad.

Currently, £50 quidco to swap to npower. It was£70 recently when I swapped, so I might just use that as part payment.

Free nest wouldn't be enough to compensate for being an Npower customer.
i don't think the charge is specific to some areas. it is a general indicative charge. I think it's the same if you buy it directly from Nest.

i installed mine by myself and I found that it's not too difficult. But beware you will be wiring mains and you need to use appropriate cabling and ensure safety standards (Google them).
Alsoy boiler is combi (so I am only using half of the features this thermostat offers because I can't use it for hot water control) so it makes the wiring straight forward.
PS: I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THE INSTALLATION YOURSELF. YOU WILL DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I RECOMMEND PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION FOR THE SAKE OF SAFETY. I WAS ONLY EXPRESSING MY EXPERIENCE.

I did on a year on year comparison during winter. But during summer I noticed a rise. My current opinion is that it could be because of the poor wifi signal. That may sound weird but since UK nest controls the boiler via a wireless link ( I think that's ZigBee which is known to have interference issues with wifi and I have several neighbour surrounding me with 2.4G wifi networks), I suspect a lost link between my Nest and the heat link could lead to heat link taking over the boiler control and turning it on all times until it restores the link with thermostat.
I think it's not much noticeable in winter but in summer it makes big diff.
So long answer short if you turn the heating off directly on boiler during summer, and use the thermostatic control only during winter you might notice e good savings.

You do know i hope that npower are a pretty poor company with rubbish customers services. Its OK if you are already supplied by them but not if you are switching. I worked in the switching department and that departments systems are effectively broken.

I got mine in this offer several months ago via a friend who was Npower subscriber. it's the cheapest you can get for this thermostat (and I would say paying more may not be worth it). it's great but £180+ is too expensive.

So if it's the cheapest you can get it, its a hot deal then?
I don't think iPhones should be more than £350, but they are...
When an iPhone goes down to £350 in my view that's the price it should be but it still be a hot deal as it's expensive everywhere else.

Last time I checked this their Nest tariff was about £30pm more expensive - so it worked out more expensive than just buying it not via NPower.
(At the time they didn't make it clear that it was on a specially priced higher tariff)
So. please check before you switch
