Bit of an acquired taste but just seen that the Naked smoothies are now included in the Tesco £3 meal deal. These are usually £2.36 on their own. Makes a change from the usual fizzy pop. Will be national.

Everyone banging on about sugar it's naturally occurring sugar, so it's the sugar that comes in the fruit. Fizzy pop has high sugar content but is not even sugar, it's high fructose corn syrup

Makes me laugh all these 'high sugar' posts from the nutritional experts! Have a look where the sugar is derived from before comparing it to a can of coke

I think the difference in a smoothie is that the sugar has been released from the majority of the cells that make the fruit, hence it is much more readily absorbed whereas when you eat whole fruit your teeth aren't as efficient as a blender at breaking down these cells, hence it takes longer for the sugars to be released and consequently take longer to get into your blood.
Afaik there has been some literature on the effect blending has on fibre but can't find it now. Mentioned that it is still useful but not the same as whole fibre.

Not to be confused with other naked smoothies.

As others have said sugar is sugar doesnt matter if it comes from a fruit smoothie... after so youve had so many vitamins your body will excrete them in urine. Sugar will convert to fat plus rot your teeth.

Are we sure about the Fibre aspect of smoothies? I know the sugar from a can of coke is just empty calories that the body turns to fat as there is nothing else in the drink for your body to do anything with but I was on the understanding that fruit sugars are processed differently due to the presence of fibre in the drink? Happy to be proven wrong. On a slightly side note I do wonder about the presence of "blue green algae" in the ingredients. Rivers and lakes keep getting closed to swimmers due to this algae growth!

As above... sugar is sugar. Where it comes from doesn't make too much of a difference when it is in such high quantities. Anyone who thinks just because it comes from fruit its healthy is not so well informed...

It's still Alot of sugar. Your body works better if you eat fruit, smoothies take out the whole fibre aspect of it. Sugar, processed or not in such quantities is too much in one hit!

Good to have this in their deal. Just as Sainsburys slash their range of sandwiches included in their £3 meal deal. No more lunch deals at Sainsburys for me.

What i meant was comparing the sugar in a can of coke to the sugar in a fruit based drink is stupid, yes the molecular structure is the same but what about the vitamins from the fruit based drink? What about the artificial additives/flavourings/colourings/E-Numbers in the can of Coke?
People look at the sugar in this drink and then compare it to a Coke and say ''look this has more sugar than a can of Coke, i might as well buy a Coke''

The source of sugar really doesn't matter. It's the same thing. You can laugh, but you are the one that's wrong.
