Maybe A-class build quality. Seems an ok price for what it is under offer.

Totally unnecessary for this kind of stuff....Go for it (and save additional wallet drain, heartache, annoyance and general inconvenience). :sunglasses:

Yes it's a shame. I moved from a 12 year old S class to a 1 year old A class right back to a 5 year old S class because of this. Might as well buy a golf if you want over priced poor quality.

lol you can't compare the S-class (£68k+) to the A-class (£19k+), the rrp when new reflects the different target markets. An older executive car will always be higher quality than the newer budget car, common sense no?

Yeah clearly. I definitely get that. It was a highly spec'd A class A220. It was just missing that something that lets you know it is quality without being able to put your finger on it that everything else in the MB range has that I've driven, well... Same with a previous generation C180 petrol. Awful plastics, might as well get a VW and save yourself some money. Just to be clear I definitely did not pay £68k for it, wish I had that kind of money to spend on a car!

Sames with BMW as well, my E46 330ci was built like a tank, truly excellent build quality, it was 9 years old when i sold it and it drove like new. My E90 335i is definitely a step down in quality with many more squeaks & rattles and generally less luxurious. The F30 is apparently an even further step down in quality, driven by the need to lighten weight to improve fuel economy and performance I'm told. I assume it's the same for Mercedes.

All cars are going this way now - gone are the solid tank-like qualities of a well built car from 10 years ago, they're designed to crumple up like crisp packet when anything going more than 5mph hits them. A German car's edge over the competition is perceived by the plushness of its interior, bigger brakes, more safety equipment and squeezing more than average Hp out of an engine these days.
I can't imagine any recent cars working like a dream for 20 years - filled with electronics and tech that can't be repaired, only replaced - far more reason to be uneconomical to fix at 10 years+.

Note the two cars that come with it are attached together at the bumpers to simulate real-life
