If they are on the reduced stand, its usually a local thing, if its National, the labels on the shelf get changed, also some stores have their stock changed and they just reduce the items to get rid. I also think there would have been more on the shelf, and if any keen Yankee Candle buyer, they would have taken them all !!

Yes, you are not wrong - Laura, but most the time its either returns, that the store does not sell, or the odd things that have already been reduced on the shelves, and need moving for other products, especially this time of the year when Christmas stuff is coming in !!
