This is a bit of a last minute deal and not for everyone, but thought it was worth the plug...
The business class airline - La Compagnie, that flies from London-Luton to New York (Newark), the other day announced it was suspending the service from the 24th September and has decided to focus on operations from Paris instead...
In-order for the airline to fill their seats on the route for the last 2-3 weeks of operation, they have reduced ticket prices to £349 each way, including all taxes. These are non-flexible and non-refundable tickets.
Usually tickets on the route have sold for around £1200 return, but can now be obtained for under £700.
To give you an idea, I have looked on travel price comparison site Kayak and business class tickets from Heathrow to New York in September are around £1500-1800 return, so quite a big saving.
Also economy tickets seem to be ranging from £450-600 in September, so for a small extra amount, you can upgrade!
The ticket price includes priority access through security and access to the business lounge before the flight at both airports. On the flight itself, you get a large business class seat, which nearly lies flat (175 degrees), chef-inspired food served on china plates, champagne and in-flight entertainment on a 12 inch tablet.
(The new Aspire business class lounge at Luton is definitely worth a visit and
avoids the chaos of all the expansion work taking place.)
The Boeing 757 which operates the flight only holds 74 seats, where usually they seat 200+ passengers.
There will be some snobs, expressing how Luton is not a London airport and how the airline is not proper business class.
Some people would argue the seats are not as good as other airlines and the food is not quite so good. Also the airline does not offer the frequency of flights or frequent flier miles of other airlines, but when you are paying half the price of another airlines business class ticket, I think you can forgive some of the differences.
whats the point of business class without hundreds behind in cattle class making you feel ever so superior

Shame - flew with them on the £250 a leg opening offer and were great just worring lact of resilience, I had to cancel another booking and took me 9 month to get airport taxes back only after heading to small claims court as insurance said not covered by policy !

It generally means that they have hired a chef (possibly Michelin starred, possibly celebrity, possibly from their local Chinese restaurant...) on a consultancy basis to design and structure their menu.

I know... when I saw this deal though, I just had this horrible vision of poor people buying tickets and taking selfies all through the flight... and wearing trainers instead of brogues.

It's about experience not artificially making yourself feel superior to the next human, some peoples behaviour does that for themselves.

Great value for what's going to be a relatively quiet and relaxed flight, business at economy prices and not having 300+ folk all piling in at the gate.

Newark may be in New Jersey, but it is closer and quicker into Manhattan through the Holland Tunnel from there than from JFK, or you can take the spectacular Verrazano Bridge.
The view from the terminal across the bay and Hudson of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline is also pretty good. I'd take Newark over JFK, and Newark also gives better access to the 95 and can be used for Philly.

Try business class on the big ones, more for less than at La Comp full price!
