HITMAN will see players perform contract hits on powerful, high-profile targets in exotic locations around the world, from the highly fashionable Paris and sunny coast of Italy to the dust and hustle of the markets in Marrakesh in this creative stealth action game.
Gameplay focuses on taking out targets in huge and intricate sandbox levels with complete freedom of approach. Where to go, when to strike and who to kill - it is all up to you. And for the first time HITMAN will lead with a digital release inviting players into a world of assassination.

Why so? With a series of intricately-crafted, 'sandbox' style missions/levels, it seems pretty well suited to me (and is doing pretty well with this model so far).

Yep, my thought exactly. I'm not certain that I'l keep this in place, but this is a great price for now so there's nothing to lose with a protective order.

I thought the whole game will be released on disk at once? What does this first season thing came from? I'm just confused as sold the digital code I've got from collectors edition of this just in hope of replacing the gap with the disk in the box and now this?
What you get on-disc is the same six missions as what comes with the currently available season pass.

I believe they're making a season each year for three years (so long as sales go well). you'll need a new season pass each year to continue to get content on release day or wait until the end of each year to get the complete season edition.

Cheers turkey, this must be like the 20th game over the past 3 months I've ordered from using your threads lol

"First Season"? How many seasons does Square Enix intend on milking Hitman for?
It's very strange for a game like Hitman to be turned into an episodic series.

Every other game in the series was a complete story without making players wait months for the next part. Hitman got Telltale'd.

That's no reason why an episodic structure can't work, though - after all, Hitman has always been about the level design, not the story. Of course, they're still offering the ability to buy all episodes together with this release, but if you want the opportunity to play them earlier, as each is ready, I see no harm in that.

Technically, but you know, the entire game not just the first portion. Besides, I have a huge backlog of games that can last a lifetime so I'm in no rush to get this.

I expect that you can think of this in a way like the different seasons of The Walking Dead - full releases that can stand alone entirely and without an expectation of a bundle package of the two together.

I think I'll wait for the price to drop, I really don't like the episodic approach that SE has taken. It shouldn't be rewarded in my eyes. Just another symptom of the DLC/Pre-Order culture we live in sadly.

This isn't the first portion this is the FULL game. All 6 contracts, bonus contracts, elusive targets, challenge modes and loads more.

I would much rather they stop this episodic / Early Access experiment and go back to making a full game and releasing it as such. This physical copy is more of a GOTY edition, rather than releasing a new full game.
I had a lot of fun in Contracts mode in Absolution, which was replaying levels in lots of different ways - which is sort of what they are trying here. The key difference is that with Absolution all levels were in the game, so once someone created a contract you had all the locations in the game potentially available. With this version of Hitman you only have the content released so far, so by the time they finally release a new location you've played the existing content to death, from only having the small number of maps.
The core game (Episode 1) launched in March. We are now in September and they are only up to Episode 4 of 7. 6 months for 3 additional episodes - not even new content each month.
I will get this once all the content is available, and I am sure I will enjoy it, as I have done with all Hitman games before, but I really don't want to support this drip-fed Early Access style release for Hitman.

It says "Complete first season" so it's not the entire game. I'll just wait for the full game whenever that's released.

The complete first season is the complete full game of season one, the first game in a new series. If you're waiting for the entire game then you'll be waiting many many years!
You're not getting it at all are you mate? Either that or you're trolling.
This IS the full game with all six episodes
Hitman Season Two (which will essentially be the sequel) hasn't even started development yet.

I was very skeptical about the episodic release at first to be honest, but I've grown to enjoy it. I've revisited each level so many times, experimenting in all the different ways there are to complete the objectives. I've easily had about 30 hours from it now, and there's still two more episodes (or is it three?) to come! It had a few technical errors to begin with, and the always on DRM is not necessary at all, but it's generally a really good addition to the series. Not quite Blood Money but better than Absolution.

Wasn't keen on the digital only episodic release on this but couldn't resist the knockdown price for the collectors edition.
Physical would be a nice addition at some point but there's no rush at the moment, heat for the price find though

It's analogous to a game and its sequel. If you want to wait then of course you're under no obligation to buy - but would you, for example, not buy Uncharted because The Nathan Drake Collection will be along eventually, Oblivion because Skyrim hadn't released, etc.?

I was thinking the same... at least with the former example, Uncharted 4 has now released to end Drake's story, so one could get that and be happy. Unless of course they release another game in the series in which case flip a table they didn't release the whole series in the first place.
Fagol

To be fair those other games barely had a story and it wasn't great. They've focused on the best part of Blood Money.

So I've just tried to see if I can order these individually on psn store just in case I don't enjoy the game.....they've removed all the episodes apart from the intro pack and full season 1 package. That can't be right?

Once you've bought the "intro pack", you should then be eligible to buy the individual episodes, if you want to do it that way (though it'll cost slightly more in the end).

Probably best waiting to be honest as it will be lower closer as most people already own the game that want to play it.
