This thing again? Jack does not raise enough to use axle stands.

Makes the creeper a little useless too.

what's the thoughts - is this worth getting for home basic maintenance (service / brakes) on 2nd car ??
was looking at 2x axle stands and bottle jack seperately .........

Something like this would be useful for maintaining your second car, although I'm not sure you would use the creeper because I doubt that you will be able to raise your car high enough (I don't think I'd use a creeper under a car supported only on some axle stands). Bearing that in mind, the other stuff would all use useful: I find that a trolley jack is handier than a bottle jack, axle stands are essential and wheel chocks are useful (although I normally use two wooden blocks). A proper wheel wrench is really useful as well (the one that came with your can probably will not do, it is worth keeping a proper one in your boot for roadside punctures).
So, apart from the creeper, you need all the rest, and £40 sounds a pretty good price for all the other bits. I suppose you might save a fiver or so if you looked around and found the bits separately, but you might spend more in gas collecting them. I think this kit looks fine for the DiY mechanic, and as long as you have some tools and a little engineering knowledge (or time to watch some You Tubes) you should be able to do the maintenance jobs on your second car and save quite a sum.
