I really like these soups. They're usually on sale for £1 somewhere or other. At the moment, it's @ Morrisons, it tends to move to another of the big 5 supermarkets. Not printed mine out yet, you may need to use a spare email address if had one last time, not sure, but they've emailed me, and can't think why if I was gonna get message 'sorry, you had a coupon lately' ? , but will update.
Exactly right! Internet coupons have been around for well over a decade, and companies like Valassis who run these schemes have obviously liaised with all the major supermarkets and reached a universal agreement on the acceptance of the coupons.
Yet somehow the information never filters down to the very people who can make or break the whole thing - the till staff.
It's the whole attitude of some of these dragons that gets me - as if the money is coming out of their own salary.

Coupon rejected by the dragon at ASDA Sittingbourne - "you can't use coupons you printed out at home" - spoken to me as if I was a naughty schoolboy.
Recently another dragon in the same store laughed in my face when I tried to redeem the e-voucher for the free bottle of Coke (exclusively at ASDA) off Twitter.
Always amazes me how these companies spend millions on marketing, yet do nothing to re-educate these nasty vile old women who work at the point of sale.
(Excuse the rant, it's not the OP's fault, heat added.)

There's a screen that says something about nominated someone who's souper- then an arrow at the side, to go left or right. Click on the arrow, you'll get the screen with the £1 off coupon

I agree with you Brown_Rolf, I have a mental note of where the staff are ok with coupons. Asda are the worst, One Morrisons is a nightmare, the other one absolutely great, likewise Sainsbury's. But yes, agree totally. I have a friend who works in PR, told me that these promotions are designed to run a certain way, ie, the clients products are given out free to customers who bother getting the coupon, printing it out, and physically going to the shop to get it. That is the customer's contribution and commitment, in reward, they get the product free- in this way, the client's product is given as a free item to pro-active customers, who, presumably, and on the whole, are interested in the client's product.
These are massive campaigns, with so many meeting, emails, different personnel involved. The last thing anyone wants is for hardly any coupons to be redeemed, that would be a massive failure for everyone involved... But, it can all go wrong at the till, if you get a jobsworth serving you.
Morrisons self serve tills let one coupon per transaction go through without calling over the s/a, so try there? Sainsbury's seem to do the same.

If you manage to print a coupon and shop at Waitrose it's worth adding your favourite soup to myPicks (I think most flavours are included) that way you could get two soups for £2.16 or 6p with the coupon, then claim the extra 70p for a profit. At waitrose the soups are £2.10 each or 2 for £3 minus 42p off per soup with myPicks

Plus I never have problems with coupons at Waitrose ! (Unlike ASDA)

Yes, they are not that petty to argue over a coupon! Plus it's just super bad customer service holding up a queue of people just because they want to make sure you understand that they don't trust you, definitely not a way to keep their customers coming back.
Btw just checked on myPicks and the only soup not included is the Skinny Peri Peri Chicken, so plenty of choice.

Absolutely horrible soups (the Thai one is pretty good though) and I should know because I got 15 free cartons the last time this deal was on! :stuck_out_tongue:
I'd have been seriously miffed if I'd paid for them so didn't feel too bad for cheating the system!

15?? How did you 'cheat the system'?
Reebok Ron

Without going into specifics you have to use a programme that stops the printing app registering itself on your computer so that each time it thinks it's the first time it's been run. I only stopped at 15 because I thought the soups were generally not that nice.

Morrisons staff in my store refuse to accept any coupons if the product is on offer. On challenging them they direct customers to the fine print on the coupon which says not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.

I always go to self service with coupons. It's worth getting to know your local store though, of the 2 Morrisons near me, one has a big meeting about a coupon, bringing over all kinds of staff, the other Morrisons is absolutely fine

Last time the coupon was available, the tills at Asda Layerthorpe (here in York) rejected the coupon. I think its more their EPOS software which rejects it so no matter who gets involved, I suspect nothing can be done.

I actually tried in Asda this time and yes, system rejected coupon but chap on till persevered and called for a supervisor who then showed him how to put it through manually as a manufacturer's coupon - so it can be done!

I had the same experience with the coupon on Asda' self service tills where it initially accepted the coupon but when I went to payment screen it got rejected. It had to be put through manually luckily they did not trouble much. I find the older staff too fussy about coupons as if it goes from their pay packet.

Agree about Asda staff. Their tills seem to be designed to accept, then reject, every coupon, even their own APGs. Some Asdas are really bad, some just a bit resentful at the extra time and effort it takes when someone uses coupons. The soups are £1.17 in Tesco right now, and the Tesco soups are a bit bigger, so you can get for 17p. I find Tesco better with coupons, so long as you don't take the 'p'. The modern Morrisons near me, and the Sainsbury's are absolutely fine.
varunadas

That is so true about Tesco. They are most flexible when it comes to coupons either their own or manufacturer ones. Their till seems to accept any number of coupons - only restriction is it does not accept multiple coupons issued by Tesco. At times I have actually paid nothing after using a mix of their coupons and manufacturer coupons. The only time I had an issue was with the Dr Oetker Pizza challenge vouchers which had the barcode faded and would not scan which meant that staff to manually key in which they are not trained for.
