Yep, the greedy barstewards have increased the price and made it more difficult to win so the odds were similar to being struck by lightning before but now the odds are approximately the same as being struck by lightning riding a unicycle over the Severn bridge whilst playing I Spy with a troop of Bulgarian transsexual midgets.

Lotto Betting is not the same as buying a ticket

In terms of choosing numbers, lotto betting may be the same, but you do not buy a lottery ticket. A lottery operator sells tickets directly, whereas lotto betting is conducted through a separate company, such as Lottoland. Any money you win is paid out by Lottoland, not the official lottery operator.

This Deal is totally misleading - IT IS NOT A EUROMILLIONS DRAW !

MODS PLEASE DELETE

he is completely wrong

"Lottoland pays all prize tiers, not just the jackpot, just as if you had bought a ticket with that lottery directly.

What’s more, to guarantee your winnings, at Lottoland we are secured by the world’s leading insurers and we are fully audited by KPMG, ensuring that all your winnings are guaranteed to be yours."

The odds of winning a prize on the Euromillions is 1 in 13 but Lottoland are giving you 3 chances to win for a £2 making the odds just over 4/1.

That is still not good odds and just wasting £2 imo and a far better deal for Lottoland who will only pay out 1 in 4 people, the majority of whom will get £2.88. There average payout will be somewhere around £5- £6 while they reap in £8. Not a wonder they have an insurance based model, the insurance company knows their onto a good thing.

Sorry but I'm out!

Agreed. Supposedly two jackpot winners in the first two reviews
And the rest are people who won't send ID to claim winnings (something you need to expect to be requested on a gambling site!), there's also one where somebody openly admits to closing down accounts and creating new ones (obviously to take advantage of signup offers) and now they are mad because they can't withdraw the winnings

theres some bright sparks on there, all the negative reviews are by people who

don't read what it actually is they are buying
idiots who say they won the jackpot
don't understand KYC that they have to do by law.

I went through about 3 pages and didn't see a single bad review that didn't fall into one of those.

Just a warning - I had an email "from" lottoland saying "4 bets for the price of 1" with a "bet now" button in the email. I then noticed that it was addressed to an alternative email address I use for a few forums, including this one (they all forward to the same place) but NOT lottoland, and the "from" address was [email protected] NOT lottoland. I'm not sure what happened here, but it's dodgy for sure!

Glad I read this thread I hadn't realised Lottoland is basically an 'all in' bet on the jackpot numbers and not a way of getting an official entry into the draw.
So the Lottoland is basically just chance to the win the jackpot and nothing else, whereas the official ticket you get a chance at the jackpot or if you guess a few of the numbers you win a cash sum too.

Yeah agreed, I've only played the promo offers so far and only invested the minimum to start. You can see how easy they make it to keep playing- win a million every 4 mins etc.

After a disastrous run using free bets on the euros i know gambling isn't my forte
scotjam
2 Oct 16 1 #138
Whoops! That's how they get you. Great introductory bet, then you fall for the trap of reinvesting your winnings, then end up with nothing but a desire to play more.

Only play the promo offers and always withdraw your winnings immediately. I'm up £4.71 on the last couple of offers from Lottoland, but only because I'm just playing the promo deals and then withdrawing.

Don't take up these offers if you lack the discipline to do that. If you can't stay disciplined, you *will* fall prey to the old adage "the house always wins".

Correct. Here are the relevant T&Cs:
Example 1: There is only one Lottoland Winning Bet in the Type A Prize Category and no Underlying Lottery Winning Ticket has been announced by the Underlying Lottery Operator in the Type A Prize Category in respect of an Underlying Lottery Jackpot in the Type A Prize Category of 90,000,000.00 EUR. The Winnings payable in respect of that single Lottoland Winning Bet amount to 90,000,000.00 EUR.

Example 2: There is only one Lottoland Winning Bet in the Type A Prize Category and two Underlying Lottery Jackpot Winning Tickets have been announced by the Underlying Lottery Operator in the Type A Prize Category in respect of an Underlying Lottery Jackpot in the Type A Prize Category of 90,000,000.00 EUR. The Winnings payable in respect of that single Lottoland Winning Bet amount to 30,000,000.00 EUR.
Master G
29 Sep 16 #120
"Lottoland passes on only those Winnings, which were paid out by EU Lotto to Lottoland for the Player." So, it is not even Lottoland that have taken out the insurance to cover any jackpot, but EU Lotto. You have a contract with Lottoland but they have a get out clause if they do not receive the funds from EU Lotto.
Gers1969
29 Sep 16 #119
No - You have NOT purchased any Euromillions tickets!
You have made a bet on the outcome of the Euromillions Draw, but your transaction is with Lottoland, NOT the organisers (Camelot ?) of the Euromillions/National Lottery .
Gareth79
29 Sep 16 1 #118
The statement is quite important "as if you bought a ticket directly". I recall reading the rules a while ago - it means that if there is one winner of the £100m jackpot and you picked the same numbers then you "only" get £50m - as if you had bought a ticket in the real game.

They have done all the calculations and worked out that if they don't have to pay out to the retailer, lottery taxes and good causes then they can turn a profit by paying part of the prize fund to an insurer to cover a jackpot. Because they are effectively combining their tickets with the real sales that must help reduce the exposure a fair bit.

Can't help sorry, just recall a letter from Halifox early this year.

I bought this offer on 27th, now I can see that I was charged £2 as QUASI-CASH TRANSACTION London Lottoland
and £3 as CREDIT QUASI-CASH FEE London Lottoland on my online statement, why would I have to pay £3 fee for using credit card? Yet, paid £5 for 3 lines which I was NOT informed about, no mention of this 150% fee at the time of registering or paying for this (not really) an offer, especially that I did not want to pay £5 for 3 lines!
I can play lotto nearly everywhere and use my credit card for free, what a rip off ????
Never again, will close my account after Friday's draw.

That is only if they did not purchase the insurance that they have stated that they would. I'm guessing their accounts would be audited and it would be a big problem if they didn't buy the insurance that they have stated that they would.

As stated by them all smaller prizes are paid from their revenue.

The big jackpots are covered by insurance. So at some point they must have asked for quotes from insurance companies as to how much the premium would be for them to cover the payout if one of their customers won the jackpot. At that point the insurer would have calculated the odds of someone winning and knowing that there is practically **** all chance of someone winning they probably would have been quoted something like 5p a ticket as it probably seems like money for nothing.

If someone does win the jackpot, you shouldn't be worrying that Lottoland might become insolvent but the companies underwriting the insurance. Luckily any jackpot is peanuts when compared to the massive insurance payouts you often read in the news.

I'm no fan of Camelot, but it does not decide on the good causes. You can apply whatever right-wing/UKIP or leftie/Marxist criteria you want and may not agree with some of the choices, but there should be some that everyone can class as "good", not forgetting Olympic/Paralympic athletes too.

Personally, I have supported both my local air ambulance charity, although I believe it should be funded as part of the NHS ambulance service and the RNLI. However, I also feel the RNLI should charge some who end up putting themselves in danger recklessly.

I clicked on through to the payment screen after adding the 3 for 1 deal and it just debited the money. Usually I'd praise a company for the efficiency of their payment system but it's a bit dodgy just to take payment without any confirmation screen first. I don't really care as it's only a couple of quid but it's hardly the sign of a legit company.

I do wonder about Lottoland - it's based in Gibraltar and I'm wondering if they're gambling themsleves on no-one winning big to wipe them out. For example, on Friday, there's a 109m quid jackpot in Euro Millions - if a Lottoland player wins that, how much would Lottoland pay out to them? I'm guessing Lottoland have probably taken out some sort of insurance for this sort of event, but if they haven't and Lottoland don't buy a ticket for every single player's picks (which they won't because they'd make a loss), then all hell could break loose...

Any participant found in breach of these promotional terms and conditions, as well as our general terms and conditions , might find their account suspended.
knowing my luck i'll win the jackpot and they'll suspend my account because i didn't receive prior notice!

I think you'll find they're all good causes in their own way. But no, they wouldn't directly benefit you, which I think is the point you're trying to make?
davidbrent
26 Sep 16 25 #55
Yep, the greedy barstewards have increased the price and made it more difficult to win so the odds were similar to being struck by lightning before but now the odds are approximately the same as being struck by lightning riding a unicycle over the Severn bridge whilst playing I Spy with a troop of Bulgarian transsexual midgets.

Slightly o/t but Euromillions has gone up to £2.50 a ticket so I'm told?
GlentoranMark
26 Sep 16 #46
And I wouldn't pay, I'm just pointing out this is not a good deal (neither is doing any Lotto). I'm not against gambling, on the contrary I'm a profitable poker player and dabble in a bit of matched betting so I deal with odds daily.

I'd take the free go only as that's the only value but I'm guessing the free go will require depositing £2 and get it returned as a credit. Can anyone confirm this?
murtgurge
26 Sep 16 #45
you don't have to pay £2. They are 2 different offers.

-1 free ticket
-3 tickets for £2
GlentoranMark
26 Sep 16 4 #44
The odds of winning a prize on the Euromillions is 1 in 13 but Lottoland are giving you 3 chances to win for a £2 making the odds just over 4/1.

That is still not good odds and just wasting £2 imo and a far better deal for Lottoland who will only pay out 1 in 4 people, the majority of whom will get £2.88. There average payout will be somewhere around £5- £6 while they reap in £8. Not a wonder they have an insurance based model, the insurance company knows their onto a good thing.

Sorry but I'm out!
PenguinsForAll
26 Sep 16 1 #43
For anyone unaware, Lottoland is a separate company and not affiliated with Euromillions or any other lottery.

As read on their website: https://www.lottoland.co.uk/lotto-betting

So you are betting on the outcome of real lotteries. They pay out lower prizes with their own revenue, and anything substantial is covered by their insurance company. So you will get paid out like normal if you win.

They did the math, it all works out - they make profit - we get free bets and the same odds. The only downside is no charities gain any money like with the National Lottery. But on the plus side, you can place bets on many different lotteries in the whole world.
PenguinsForAll

Nor to the shareholders or Canadian pension funds
Rickardo

The money from when people do pay Lottoland to bet also does not go to Camelot, nor any of the good causes that benefit from the National Lottery.

Plenty of recent 5 star reviews on trust pilot but mainly from first time reviewers, makes me suspicious! Scroll down a bit and you hit all the negative reviews on them. There appears to be one customer service agent called Amy who is answering negative reviews. Yes match the numbers and "you still win right?" Good luck in getting your payout if you do win from this offshore company.
vultan999 to nivvy34

I've won £100 from them on their scratchcards before. Took them about 4 days to pay out from making the request but the process was fairly smooth.

You do not get a "Free EuroMillion Friday Draw" as per your post. All you get is a vague promise of a payout from a company called Lottoland - sure it's free BUT it is not a Euromillions draw - you get no ticket or real guarantee of a payout.

Amend your post ! It is misleading !

To be clear you get exactly the same payout but it comes from lottoland instead of camelot. They insure against big wins, so you will get your payout
