Norwegian Airlines are flying to Los Angeles from London from £338 return in January and February 2017.
This is basic economy and is £438 with baggage, but still an excellent deal.
Other flights to New York available. Picked up a return to LA from London 2nd to 12th February.

Unfortunately Norwegian doesn't have WiFi on their long haul trans-Atlantic flights (source, scroll to the bottom)

They are a fairly awful airline. Wouldn't fancy a long haul flight with them. The most worrying part would be they don't have enough capacity to get you home quickly if something goes awry with scheduling.

What a **** accusation. I flew with NA to LAX earlier this year and the flight was fantastic. Brilliant airline and great planes.

Flew this route in July, was OK except the meals weren't up to much. Also wifi is only available on flights round Europe not transatlantic

Flew with them last year to LA, no issues with them at all, very polite staff, comfortable seats each of which had its own TV, only set back is you pay extra for everything, food, drink, blanket, seat selection oh and luggage but I personally prefer to be able to customise my in flight costs. Didn't have wifi on the long haul though

Or you could go with Thomas Cook scheduled service in May,when it starts getting warm for 389.98 including half decent food, in flight ent. that works and 25kg of baggage. Only downside, its from Manchester, only thats actually a good thing as it avoids the hell that is Gatwick! ;-)

Quick search online shows flights available with BA, Virgin and Air New Zealand around the £380 mark. That includes baggage and food which makes them a better deal than Norwegian. If you can do without though then it's a good deal. Just not for me!

Don't know why these budget airlines always get voted hot. This is not a good deal considering you get no food/drink onboard or baggage.

They are brilliant until they let you down. Their customer service is shocking. As I say, I wouldn't trust them on a long route where they have little capacity. If your flight back from the USA is cancelled you could be in for a hell of a long wait compared to a non-budget operator who would be able to find a seat for you via partner airlines or the like.

I flew from London to NY and then returned from Miami in Sept last year and was totally shocked by how good the flight/service was. I fully expected it to be bad given the tickets were £200 less than the next cheapest but the plane was brand new, service was great - I'd definitely do it again
