After seeing the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Deals and a few others appearing on here recently I thought I would put in a phone that I have recently purchased [after doing a fair bit of research to find a dual-sim phone, with decent band-support, 5 inch screen and opportunity for software updates].
Doogee get a decent reputation for a Chinese brand (also responsible for the HomTom - http://www.doogee.cc) and can be bought on amazon through various suppliers; they also support OTA updates.
This phone has decent phone-band support for 2G, 3G and 4G coverage in the UK and Europe (www.willmyphonework.net)
Basic specs:
MTK6737 (new) Quadcore Processor
2GB RAM
16GB ROM (expandable with MicroSD/TF Card)
Dual Sim
Fingerprint Sensor
4000mah battery for a couple of days use
5 Inch (720p) Screen
Available in Black or White
The camera is the weakpoint for this phone (5MP interpolated to 8MP front and back), no Gorilla Glass screen (although a $1 glass screen protector sorts that) and the robust looks due to the large battery.
IMO its one of the best (new - not 2015 release) low-priced phones. For this price, make sure you choose "EU Warehouse"

I have a Nikon D5100 with a couple of decent lenses, but every time I run to get it, power it up, focus lock etc the moment has passed. Yes I accept that a DSLR will always take a better photo than a phone, but when it comes to impromptu shots at home it's hard to live with one around one's neck all the time (though that might be just my personal experience).
Then perhaps I might be in a small minority who believe that photos of children aren't needless.

I tried Stagefright Detector by Zimperium, Malwarebytes, 360 Security, Kaspersky, Root Check by JRummy Apps, Bluebox Security Scanner, Belarc Security Advisor.
Hope these help. 360 Security sometimes reports apps as malware but arent. The root check should report not rooted.
Hope this helps.

They are not going to do anything. The seller, distributor or manufacturer have injected the adware to make some extra money from displaying ads or installing "sponsored apps". My old iNew i7000 phone came with a backdoor that allowed them to force install additional apps whenever they wanted to. It even had a function that would detect me removing one of the apps, causing it to be reinstalled a couple minutes later.

Incredibly the app looks like it's known to be a bad 'un, yet still hosted on the Play Store (see user reviews):
1) Flash another rom that doesn't have the spyware. If the manufacturer is including the spyware this may be difficult to find.
2) Root the phone and delete the spyware from the system files. This relies on the ability to find a method to root the phone if it isn't already rooted and to understand what can be deleted and what to do if things go wrong.
Both methods could leave you with a bricked phone.

I also have this phone , note the max pro has a different processor and ram to the max , and the pro so take those reviews with that in mind ,
I get two days from the battery , that's with constant use of the radio , plenty of Gps use , constant screen on for 3 or 4 hours while messing about with settings and minimal phone and text use also a wifi download of 365mb ( maps for Gps) and a wireless file transfer of some pictures to my computer ,
The finger print function is great and works without fault , well except yesterday as I had super glue on my finger and I suppose this shows it's doing it's job fine
The cameras are average , the screen is good but not fantastic ,
4G works fine on my Gif Gaff / Orange sim , I haven't put a second sim in yet
The smart gestures work great
I dropped the phone today and as far as I can see no damage has occured ( now after a case as the rear of the phone is a bit slippy)
I thought this phone may be to big when I bought it but I'm used to it now and it fits in my pocket fine

xda and needrom sites are the sites for Rom and discussions about this phone. I have one and it is quite heavy because of the battery. Camera is pretty poor in the dark even with the flash, and camera is slow to start up. Sometimes apps are slow to start. Latest rom has upped the clock speed from 1GHZ to 1.2GHZ. malware bytes told me there was two malware on the older rom but still one on the latest. They can be disabled, otherwise have to root phone to remove them.
Sometimes Chrome doesn't seem to like any finger presses, doesn't do anything, but maybe that's just me.
The odd time I get other Android errors, but only now and again.

Yup absolutely. I remember distinctly a few years ago, the 'What Digital Camera' annual 'Photographer of the Year' contest was won by an image taken with a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone in natural light and with minimal post-processing. This was after the judges had reviewed thousands of photos, many of course taken with top-end Nikon and Canon pro DSLR set-ups with fast lenses, high-end filters, creative flash lighting etc - the reviews were performed in a 'source blind' manner so none of the judges knew what camera or settings were used for a given image.
They had been gobsmacked when they were told.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 was released in early-2014.

I have a Doogie X5 Pro which cost me all of 50 quid delivered. 2GB/16GB/Dual sim with dual standby. Works perfectly, nippy enough for 90% of what I tend to do on a smartphone. The only feature that lets it - and the hundreds of these sub-£100 phones - down is the poor quality of the camera. In perfect lighting it takes acceptable photos but that's it. I have a little girl and the countless times I've missed a good shot of her because of this camera drove me to go for a contract with a better phone. I'm still keeping it as a back-up as the dual-sim is very useful when going abroad when you don't want to risk a more expensive phone, and allows you to use a cheap local SIM for data and outgoing calls while receiving messages etc on your main SIM.

These Chinese companies rarely support their phones beyond a couple of month after launch.

Indeed, if you're the kind of person who likes the latest versions or maybe root and put different roms on you'll need to wait around a bit and see if a community arises around a phone.
My Lenovo K3 Note was around £100 - it was initially released over a year ago....a 3rd party Nougat rom has just been released in beta! i bought it because it had a good community and i suspected this kind of support would continue.

My Y100 Pro got about 5 updates over about 4 months, just bug fixes no major OS revision. Not much different from many other phone makers including the more expensive ones like Motorola, they release with more outdated versions of the OS to begin with, then do you a favour upgrading it to a less out of date version still a version behind.
It's best just to buy the phone with the version of the OS you want, if it gets updated then that's a bonus.

Doogee = Dougie? (Scottish-ism for Douglas for those that don't know)

These Chinese companies rarely support their phones beyond a couple of month after launch.
My Doogee Y100x has not had a single OTA update. Fortunately there has been no noticeable need for one apart from perhaps the latest android version ( its on 5.0 )
My Lenovo K3 Note was around £100 - it was initially released over a year ago....a 3rd party Nougat rom has just been released in beta! i bought it because it had a good community and i suspected this kind of support would continue.
It's best just to buy the phone with the version of the OS you want, if it gets updated then that's a bonus.

The big battery is what i like most about this deal.
I like big batts and I cannot lie
broke screen when I dropped it, cost more than new phone to replace it so binned it and purchased the F5 which I am so far pleased with.
