Been on the lookout for a well priced all in one watercooler and Amazon currently have the Deepcool Maelstrom 120K for an excellent price.
Very well reviewed cooler for the money, looks like a great buy to me.

Thinking is it worth it for an entry level water cooler on my 6700k skylake ?

How noisy is this gonna be?

According to reviews, the pump makes a noise, nothing too bad. The fan it ships with is very quiet

What do we reckon between this and the good old reliable Hyper 212 Evo? Been rocking it for a while now and have wanted to get into the AIO cpu liquid cooling game.
Currently on i7 2600k (not overclocked due to motherboard - long story) but looking to upgrade to a new i5 some time soon. There shouldn't be any issues with the socket fitting should there? Going from 1155 to 1150 if going for Skylake.

Not worth it for little gain (low end AIO water cooling), save your money the Hyper 212 can be used on LGA1155/1150/1151 boards, good enough for the top of the range 4790K/6700K chips.

Probs not worth it. But the mounting holes are all the same on 1155/1150/1151 so any cooler will fit. You realise you will need a new motherboard for a new i5 yes?

Does anyone else get put off by corrugated tubing? It's a deal breaker for me.

Agreed, in fact I replaced my ailing Corsair H60 (early version) with a 212X and if anything the temps are better than when it was working.
The only advantages of entry-level AIO are more space around the socket and the radiator can exhaust directly out of the case. If you have a well ventilated case it won't make much difference, if any.

One other advantage is of course not having a heavy 600g-1000g cooler hanging off the board but that's probably only relevant for people who often move their PCs.

Fully aware yeah - partly the reason I intend to upgrade at some stage. My original mobo met it's maker a couple of years ago and I couldn't for the life of me get a Z77 chip mobo ANYWHERE as it's a bit old now so I had to make do with a bog standard H67 board which won't allow for overclocking. At the moment I need a complete overhaul effectively, cpu, mobo and RAM so saving the pennies! Should be good to go by 2030
